I was just thinking that it would be nice when headcrabs spawned in mid-air they used their drowning animation. They just look too static falling out of the air in their idle pose.

I think all enemies should have a spawn animation. Maybe they could come up from a tensed, slightly crouched position?

No, not like Terminator. It looks pretty bland if they just drop out of mid air playing their idle animations. I would also suggest some sort of visual effect for the model of whatever’s being spawned if it hasn’t already been done, maybe similar to the effect used for the vortigaunts at the beginning of Episode 1.

well if the vortigaunts and A_grunts have facial animations, the they could have a startled or serious look on their face, i think alternating facial animations would be ace.

to build on that, i think i may have suggested this before (before the Vbulletin second crash), The Agrunts AI should differ from that of the other NPC in that they become enraged when they are weak and cause little to no damage on the player. angry facial animations and a charging mechanism (like the charger from L4D 2) that would thrust the player across the map kind of like the antlion guards.

I remember noticing facial “expressions” on the hunters in Ep2, and I thought that was a great detail. I wouldn’t be surprised if the devs already have that incorporated for the Agrunts at least.

BTW, do hunters really have facial expression ? Never seen it tho but it’s been a while I’ve played EP2.

Do they even have faces to express with? I thought it was just eyes which looked around all over the place.

No but seriously, there was a commentary node that talked about Hunter expressions using it’s “eyes” and body movement.

I just thought of something: If the crossbow shoots tranquilizer darts, would it be possible to have them sticking out of the ragdoll after you shoot it?

i think they dissolve when they hit npcs.

It’d be kind of neat to see crossbow bolts sticking out of enemies, but I’m not going to hold my breath…
BTW, can someone explain to me why the crossbow should be so deadly against non-living enemies like tanks, turrets and sentry guns?
