Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

thats subjective though, I doubt the g-man would regard the crowbar as some sort of ‘relic’ a ‘Ark of the covenant’ in the Half-life universe if you will… though I can imagine in some weird way, that becoming the case in some way.

All the people complaining about the crowbar animations just think for a second. The trailer was made ONE YEAR ago. I’m pretty sure the devs would have fixed up the animation a bit in one whole year!

That’s exactly what I’m saying. The Gman probably just threw the crowbar in some ditch in Xen, along with all his other weapons.

This just in: The teleporting tech found on the Borealis in Ep3 teleports you back to Xen where you find all of your HL1 weapons in a ditch and get them back. :retard:

I think that it’s more likely G-man took the weapons to the GTA universe and scattered them all over Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas for other heroes to use at their leisure.

I’m not complaining and I don’t see anyone else complaining…

I assumed a “swing” would be default. I was just worried the “bounce off” or “ricochet” may have been missed. I guess the big reason why I brought this up is that I’m playing Bioshock and they don’t have the “ricochet” with their wrench. I just noticed it as a missed detail from such a detailed game, and a missed detail leads to distraction.

Thanks for the reply.

If that’s the case, then how did they get the Tau Cannon back for the jeep?
I expect anything Freeman could have a use for (except the weapons replaced by the combine equipment), Gman saved, aside from the gluon gun, because Valve probably doesn’t want to dabble into gibs much for HL anymore.

The one Freeman used might not have been the only one.

True, but very unlikely.
It’s a Tau cannon. A cannon that shoots Tau particles. It’s not like they mass-produced it, then everyone and their grandma would have one.

I doubt that in the 20 years between games the Tau cannon would still be in perfect shape, especially considering that there’s been a war on. Also, the Tau Cannon on the Scout Car in Hl2 has a different design than the one you hold in HL1.

Kleiner survived, obviously it’s possible he made another one. They did develop the Gravity gun, after all. If they already had the blueprints for the tau cannon, making another one wouldn’t be so hard.

Considering the fact that Eli put the Tau Cannon on the car, and he is the major scientist with the large lab full of associates, human and otherwise, it’s more likely that Eli built the Tau Cannon in HL2.

Thre suggestions:

  1. You only see construction workers in forklifts. But I think it would make sense to see a few of them also walking around, carrying stuff and repairing something (welding) while the tram ride.

  2. Maybe it would also be nice to see a guard driving one of those security jeeps in one scene.

  3. Additional textures for placed corpses. Because it is a little bit strange, if you see a dead scientist in a pool of blood, while the body itself has no visible wounds.

3 - Well corpses in HL2 episode 2 had blood splattered corpses. BM will be using the same orange box source version, so corpses can already be splattered in blood, don’t really need additional textures for corpses I wouldn’t think.

I think those were different models/skins, though. although, if it is a new model-decal application system for hammer, I’d be very happy!

WHY VALVE! WHY NOT MODEL DECAL APPLICATION?! WHY!!!

Lol, nice.

Will the bodies that Bullsquids are eating be mutilated even further? If not, they should.

As a hardcore Valve fanatic and armature game reviewer (meaning I review games for fun) I regard Half-Life as one of the greatest games ever created. Yet as much as Half-Life is one of my favorite games of all time, the game was not perfect, and does in fact have real flaws that annoyed the hell out of me.

One thing that I thought really detracted from the experience is that many times throughout the game, there were parts which I thought really could have been condensed, modified, or cut out completely. These parts usually seemed fairly out of place, drag on a little longer then I thought they should, and in my opinion really took away from the immersion of the game and in some respects made it tedious as hell. Now, I’d have to have a fresh play through of the game (seeing that I haven’t played it for a year or so now) to pick out every point that I think could have been modified, condensed, or cut out, but they are definitely prevalent. One could probably relate my issues, because I know allot who agree.

In my opinion, any part in Half-Life that you thought was just not at all fitting throughout the glorious single player that is said game; you should change for the better. I’m sure that this community could help you out with that one, because I think by now we can all agree that we are avid Half Life fans who know the ins and outs of that classic title.

Another suggestion that I have is that you should maybe try to find a large, varied number of voice actors for the game, because one thing that really annoyed me about the original is that almost everybody sounded exactly the same. Even adding 10 fresh voices into the mix would make a great difference to the overall presentation in my opinion. And I’ll bet that there are hundreds of people on the internet who would be ready and willing to provide their talents for free. I being the colossal nerd that I am, have seen numerous people gifted with exceptional voice acting abilities on places such as YouTube VIA fan dubs, pod casts, machinemas, Vlogs, and things of that nature. Possibly holding an audition of sorts would bring this project an abundance of much valued talents.

Well, that’s my suggestions for now – I hope I helped in some way, shape or form to progress this (what looks to be) amazing project. If I can help in any other way with this venture (which I’m highly doubtful of, seeing the quality of the work that my eyes conceive) I’ll be more then willing too. I’ll probably have more suggestions in the future, so you haven’t seen the last of me just yet…

This is a very broad statement and not a very good suggestion. Exactly who decides what should be cut from the mod? One could argue the devs, but it is highly likely removing any part from the original half life would annoy someone.

The team has stated that if it was in half life, it will be in Black Mesa. Therefore they will do their utmost to recreate everything from the orginal game.

The BM is not a re-make, it is an improvement.

I guess you’re right - really, that issue was mostly a personal, nitpicking gripe. I still love the game like no tomorrow though.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
