You have partial code, not the entire source code from an engine license. Or am I mistaken as well?
Wasn’t enough science for me. There needs to be microscopes and test tubes and dissected children with organs everywhere.
Everything but the core code or “engine code” ( so we get the contents of hl2, episode 1, shaders, etc… )
Well I guess you will just have to miss out on this mod then
Stop editing your original post!
Yes, but you do have some limitations compared to actual licensees of the Source engine, right? You can use the existing code base but you can’t change it as extensively as paying licensees.
I thought I read somewhere that you used a code hook to add something you couldn’t do with the code base from the mod SDK.
EDIT: I found a comment by you about a code hook:
Isn’t this because the mod SDK code base doesn’t support something you need for this mod?
Of course, otherwise it would be pointless to license the Source engine
Yes I know, that’s the point I’m trying to make. That the code hook is because they’re using the mod SDK which has certain limitations compared to the official source code.
I loved how Alyx, Odessa and other NPCs from HL2 gave you different items and weapons as medkits, rpg and the gravity gun in a scripted sequence.
Would be great to see something like that in Black Mesa, too.
This also would let the scientists appear more helpful.
Btw: I am talking about scripted sequences, not about the rebels who give you medkits and ammo during combat.
The point would be to sell your game
Maybe one of the Security Officer’s could give you the shotgun instead of you finding it (it was like 3 feet away from him anyway).
Or he could use the shotgun and become a force to be reckoned with.
I could see the dying security guard in the track control room handing you his magnum before he dies, rather then leaving it next to him. But that would make things really odd if he only dies when he hands it to you. As if it weren’t strange enough with odessa cubbage standing there staring.
When the prototype weapons gib an enemy, they should explode with a significant splash of blood as well.
this is sort of what I mean:
I dunno, after D9 I thought the arc gun effect would fit perfectly for these attacks.
Unlikely if that will be implemented. Still, it’d make sense that a weapon that messes around with your gluons could cause your blood vessels to explode simultaneously.
Great idea.
I’d prefer if the guard gave you the magnum after he told you to go to the generator room- “Here, you’ll need this more than I do.”
Just make sure that he doesn’t offer it unless the player can hold ammo for it/doesn’t have it.
Fsr, I liked that guy a lot. It’s sad how you have to leave him there. It’d be a shame to see him scripted to die.
Instead of standing there waiting for you, have the zombies walk around aimlessly, or even doing something stupid like banging on a wall. Or you could just have them be ‘dead’ until you get near.
They do walk, and they’ll be “feeding” sometimes.
Not really, in Half-Life they were either ‘feeding’, or just standing there doing nothing until you show up.
