Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, but how can a mod not be moddable?

Without code all you can do is change the models, textures and particle fx.

No Code, no gravity gun.
No Code, no smod.
no Code, you get the picture.

And sounds :hmph:

Idiot, didn’t you read that BM sounds are written in with the rest of the code?

I’m sure some basic code could be added by means of hooking, if I’m not mistaken that’s what you guys did too. Because you don’t have access to the source code.

Right?

oh man, that’d be awesome if they did :zip:

Hello, I’m budbuddy, very long time half-life fan. I go on half-life related websites every week, but wouldn’t you know it, I missed this one for 6 years, pretty lame ^^. Although, now that I realize, I am VERY glad I did, I didn’t want to be like Dillxn and have this hanging over me for 5 years ^^.
Now, Is this a suggestion? I’m not sure anything in this thread is anymore, considering the status of the mod, it seems like its nearly out the door, and whether it releases in 4 months or tomorrow, it seems quite unlikely any suggestions made now would only be subject to constructive criticism and possible flaming, but nothing like true consideration. So, this is more of a question in a sense, although I must formulate it as a suggestion to have it be in this thread. I think Dr Magnusson should be in Black Mesa. I have noticed that in episode 2 he mentions the ‘black mesa incident’… of a microwave casserole. This is no doubt an easter egg in reference to the ‘anomalous materials’ chapter of Half-Life, where you are given the possibility of blowing up a microwave, by pressing its buttons repeatingly, the scientist who later scolds you for it, is of course, Dr Magnusson. Now indicating this, knowing that it has been said Dr Magnusson is NOT going to be in Half-Life, would be insulting the devs, or their brain capacity, as such a flagrant detail could not have been missed by such a meticulous team. I do not think any of the developpers are stupid. So the question part of this comment is: What are your reasons for not incorporatin this dear Dr Magnusson, there must be a logical one, or else i’m sure one of you who have thought of incorporating him in this brilliant Modification of Half-Life 2.

Thank you for answering.

No, Dr. Magnusson is not going to be in Black Mesa. It’s reverse continuity, and the character was not there at the incident’s time. There was someone else watching the casserole though.

Remember to read the FAQ:

Please.

Just a small suggestion - When you shoot a Security Guard or Soldier in the head their helmet flys off. Just thinking back to the old Medal of Honours :retard:

scripted sequences should unfold differently every time so you rely on pure skill rather than quicksave trial and error.

I’m honored you’d use me as an example. I like you now, champ.
And, Dr. Magnusson will not be in the mod, as Laidlaw himself said that he was ‘probably’ not in the room when Gordon exploded the casserole.

Well, I remembered you making use of that fact in another topic, although I cannot remember which one, I vaguely remember these words from you: " I envy you. I’ve had to wait 5 years for this thing. "

Haha, well it’s been a fun ride

No.

The whole idea behind a scripted sequence is that it DOESN’T unfold differently.

Scripted event =/= Dynamic event

uh no.
Where do you guys get your information from? Bit funny.

We have the code.

I want to see people actually doing shit with all that shit in those motherfucking laboratories, like motherfuckin science. Not standing around looking important like the government.

Have you seen the trailer?

No! There’s a reason bathrooms have doors. :stuck_out_tongue:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
