Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Send in the troops.

Nobody is saying it wasn’t kept a secret from “the world.” Everything within the Black Mesa facility was top secret. What I’m trying to suggest is that the Xen research wasn’t any more or less secret than the portal experiments Gordan was working on, both things were equally secret and not seperate from each other IMHO, and any personnel (especially Gordan) would have had access within the facility.

Maybe the Barney’s would have been kept in the dark. But surely the scientists would all be in the know.

What about the scientist saying that you’re not authorized to know about the teleportation labs?

OH MY FUCKING GOD I HATE YOU PEOPLE

<3

why would they have different security clearances if everybody has infinite access to information? Just like any scientific or corporate institution that has government contracts, certain information and areas are only seen by a handful of people and their government benefactors. Black Mesa fits the profile of place that combines the military-industrial aspect as well as the the scientific leader aspect. Its like CERN meets General Dynamics.

All those scanners lying around the facility are there so only certain scientists gain assess to certain places.

Haven’t you realised by now he does that on purpose?

 to you, good man.

Levels of Security clearance
Confidential
Secret
Top Secret
Compartmented Information <----

Friend of mine works for Raytheon in the “Undersea systems” division. Everything he works on is either Top Secret or Compartmentalized. Once you have your top secret security level, you can view anything thats also has a Top Secret security clearance requirement. Based on what is happening at Black mesa, even the existence of the majority of the projects would be compartmentalized. Meaning there is no one person that knows everything about everything.

PS: If black mesa were ever to be a real company, I think Raytheon would be the most likely candidate.
PSS: I realy want to vandalize that list in wikipedia of Individuals who have had security clearances revoked.

Ah, no. I failed to see a pattern. I guess I’m not paying close enough attention.

I was watching the charging station video on youtube and I thought it would be pretty cool if Gordon could actually pick up the nozzle or whatever is on the charging station and insert the energy put in his suit through something small in his wrist. I’ve thought of terrible ideas in the past, but I don’t think this is that bad of an idea.

(Yeah I made this as a full thread, but since this apparently is more of a small suggestion, I’m posting it in here.)

I think this won’t be done because of the same reason why they’re not using an animation when Gordon puts on the hazmat suit. It’d be too much work and it’s not that big of a deal. Plus, I’d think it would get really annoying for that to happen every time you used one of them. And it would take too long.

Okay then.

It would be interesting in another game franchise, but I can’t really see it fitting in with Half-Life, where you don’t see your hands (except with guns) or your body.

Yeah, good point.

It seems like a bad idea to have that tube hanging there though. It just brings attention to the fact that he’s not touching the thing.

I know at this point, suggestions are pointless, but here’s one.
Is there a glasses gib? It would be good for some scientists and Gordon himself.

Gibs are meant to be non-specific. Having gibs that are specific to each individual npc (such as those wearing glasses, specific shoes etc.) would be too much for most computers to process and a complete waste of resources - hence why they’re just anonymous bits of meat.

I was just exproring the wiki and salivating at the pictures, and I’ve found this:

And below it: “A scientist model, at a higher rendering than in-game .”

So, I assume, that we will not be able to see that quality ingame. So, basicly, i want to ask why? Is there any technical reasons that prevent this or require powerful hardware or something? It cannot even be put on “Very very high” texture setting? :frowning:

It’s called optimisation.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
