When I played the first HL one thing that impressed me a lot was the animations in first person. Even still today not many games are that animated with the arms and recoil. I remember your arms always moving around and just being very detailed with animation, the way the guns recoiled and what not. I was just wondering if you guys are keeping those really detailed animations that HL1 had? If not then I am suggesting it!
So do you mean in third-person mod too?
Yes.
And no thirdperson model.
I’d assume so, judging from the trailer. Plus, the playermodels have to look good in multi-player when shooting.
I hope the Crowbar movement is the same/similar.
That was pretty awesome.
Look at the trailer, the crowbar animations are actually pretty lousy.
It’s probably alpha game-play though, and if it is final, someone in the community will reanimate it so it’s aggressive and violent like in HL1.
to me it looked pretty choppy.
The crowbar? Yeah, those were Alpha.
The MP5/other weapons? Either old, or it’s the recoil.
I don’t think you can take much from the trailer as it was not only sped up quite a bit, but also the fact that a lot of the gameplay was, as mentioned above, alpha-beta build.
The only really sped-up parts were when they were showing off the MP5.
No, those were slowed down.
I had noticed this, but it’s still time-tampering shenanigans.
I would like to see some nice idle animations, I think all weapons in HL1 had them but in modern games even in HL2 there is nothing. I just like to watch Gordon watching his guns in different angles, playing with Snarks or spin that thing in the Tau cannon while your running in an empty corridor
Yea, that was always some nice detail.
Also, judging by the little animation played near the end (1:03) of this video, it looks like we will be seeing those nice idle animations in BM.
Hmmm, that seems a bit too flashy to me, not like anyhting I’ve seen in Half Life. It’s more akin to the crowbar animations in Deus Ex or pistol drawing in Stalker Clear Sky.
IIRC, the crowbar is the same one from HL2.
Yeah I thought so too. They only changed the texture. So basically, people are complaining about Valve animations…
They stated before the crash that it was like that because it was a direct hit or something like that.
Although…
If you watch the video, you’ll see they’re clearly not HL2 animations.
Same goes for 357.
