Gonarch's 'testicle' suggestion.

Hello there,

I thought I’d make my first post count, and suggest something. No matter how late I am into the mods completion. :awesome:

To the point:

I’ve always found the Gonarch a very hard enemy to take seriously, with that massive testicle dangling around; giving birth without warning. I’m sure this is how VALVe originally intended for the Gonarch to be portrayed, but I comtemplated the idea of something a little more ‘awesome’ (without drastically changing the silhouette).

I envision something resembling a blastocyst (early foundations for embrygenesis in mammals), hovering between the Gonarch, and the ground.

It’d make perfect sense for the Gonarch to have a setup like this, as it’s primary function appeared to be pro-creation.

As well as this, it would add considerably to the general horror of the fight, in that your perception of fear isn’t ruined by the fact that there’s a massive testicle dancing about (although, some may find ball-thrusting scary, as it is  ).

I wouldn’t say it’s physically impossible for something non-human either.
Par example: The Nihilanth’s head opened up. This isn’t physically possible to do with the mere strength of muscles in your own cranium.

Just my two cents.

P.S. If I’ve made any mistakes: spelling or otherwise, do tell me.

Is it meant to even be serious? because i swear in Raising the bar was said they designed it like having a “testicle”. Gotta say though, that’d be pretty good.

It’s a vagina sack! Get it straight!

testicles dont give birth =/

Just to clarify, Gonarch and Mr. Friendly were the bits that dropped off the underside of Nihilanth and scuttled away, leading him to be floating about with a load of industrial steel stuffed up his nether-regions.

Mr. Friendly =/= Gonarch?

Good sirs,

Regardless of whether it was a vagina or not, it looks like a testicle.

I obviously didn’t convey that clearly.
That, or I was greeted by a /b/tard.

we KNOW it looks like a testicle. That was the entire point of the Gonarch
EDIT:Wasn’t there a thread just like this?

That’s just a retarded idea.
The whole awesome aura of the Gonarch revolved around the fact that is a testicle-spider.
Also, not in original, not in BM…

that makes sense

What do you have againt giant walking testacles that give birth do little alien things?

Absolutely.
Don’t you understand???
It’s a TESTICLE SPIDER.

I understand. They are just uncommon here…

Really? I see them wandering around all over where I live.

“That’s just a retarded idea.

What you’re suggesting here, is that Black Mesa is just a graphics update. It won’t necessarily look any better with the original look, than it will with another proposed concept.

Why not take advantage of the source engine to change something in what is potentially a good way? It’s not like I’m suggesting they turn the Gonarch into some kind of beautiful, nude, pregnant, head-crab woman. By which I’d be totally changing the dynamics of that level’s gameplay and visual design.

Also, work out a proper definition of retarded before using it sparingly.

It’s just an idea, and it’s worth giving it a shot. I’m not exactly telling anybody it should be this way, it’s just my personal take on a fictional character, and how it could’ve been better.

I’m not being facist about, so try and be constructive with critiscms, at least.

:retard:

Sigh. I don’t think the OP made a bad suggestion, really. If no-one has anything critical to add (see above) then you may as well stay out.

HeadCrabeD, I knew somebody’d like that. :hmph:

Firstly: it would be redesigning the penultimate boss for a completely arbitrary and unjustifiable reason, and that goes against BMS team’s design philosophy.

Secondly: I think you’ll find everyone else here wants a beautiful source engine testicle.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
