gluon gun kills

What about gibbing + particles + quick vapourization of the gibs?

^I basically suggested this earlier in the thread. It’s not a bad compromise between the people who want gibs and the ones who want the vaporization.

THANK YOU! Someone else understands where I’m coming from! Seriously though, the only arguments I’ve seen against the vaporization is “We want gibs” and “but it won’t be how it was in HL1”

I vote for the beam giving enemies cancer and then ragdolling a pre-determined number of years later (depending on where you gave them cancer).

I think vaporisation would be pretty slick. Maybe have a gradually intensifying glow around the NPC before they die too.

No, but seriously, I think they should gib into a fountain of puppies.

That actually sounds pretty badass. +1 for that.

Yes, then everyone wins. Except the target.

:awesome:

it should create a mini-black hole inside the persons body so that you can watch them swirl around in a cartoonish effect while the get consumed from the inside.

Edit: i really don’t care as long as its still violent

Personally, I’d like to see the gluon gun throw the rag doll back and, after a few seconds, either explode or burst into molecular ashes. Maybe even a Nathan Stark like death.

Id like them to just explode into a mist of blood and gore like with the lightning gun in the movie District 9.

+1 for liquidification

I’m really sorry that your masturbation fantasy remained unfullfilled. Some players consider half-life to be “intelligent” FPS, and while the gore does help to ground the game a bit in reality (such as you see blood stains on walls behind you after being shot at), we’re not playing the game to score gorekills (that’s what Unreal Tournaments “Frag Monkey” and “Head Shot” awards are for).

For players like me, the disintegration was very rewarding, especially when I manage to disintegrate several enemies with a single shot.

A pro tip: Try that sometimes.

Blue energy beams that rip things apart an an atomic level you say?

My penis is a gluon gun.

Good call, Raminator… Good call.

In my opinion the Gluon Gun, being the most powerful weapon one can acquire in the game, should be extremely visually impressive as far as destroying enemies is concerned. Gibbing is done with all of the other weapons and thus I think that some sort of blue disintegration effect is in order, with an appearance similar to an electrical discharge. However, one thing that bothered me about the original gluon was that it simply exploded the enemies in place. If it were a beam of energy that powerful, the disintegrated bits of enemies would have to be blown AWAY from the player, as opposed to every conceivable direction at once.

As far as the actual effect, it should be similar to the gibbing, but the gibs should be smaller, charred pieces of enemies with small temporary blue particle trails on them. A satisfying piff of blood upon contact with enemies would also be increasingly satisfying as well.

The beam, in my opinion, should be more or less the same; I think that the center beam should be more intense and opaque, bluish white, and the surrounding helix should have a similar look to an arc of electricity. At least, that’s how I see it.

then we may sleep well and be completely unworried)
and the bodies? did i miss something, or is there still nothing special?

Oh you tease.

I shat bricks just now.

I just discovered a new way the gluon gun might work:

It’s from here, I recommend it if you haven’t read it yet.

That’s actually really well written.
