gluon gun kills

what about disintegrate and spurt blood at the same time, you would literally paint the battlefield red if you use the gluon gun

have his ragdoll go into spasms as little chunks of meat rip off and fall untill he compleatly disapears?

I always assumed the gluon gun destabilized the target on a molecular level, leading machines to stop working as vital parts were destroyed, materials to stop holding together as parts ceased to exist, and organic targets to fall apart as the skin and other organs/bones were ripped apart and turned into water, which then mixed with the blood.

So, everything just destablizes and falls apart when pelted with the gluons, leading to exploding people and flying metal.

Gluon gun uses stream of gluons from depleted uranium, ya? Read more for info… but I think it could melt guys…

The way I thought the gluon gun would work is by creating a beam, that makes all the molecules within the beam to extremely accelerate and heat up. Thus causing say a human body that it touches to explode.

That or magic?

Wouldnt we all be happy if it just…gibed people like it did in half-life? Seens as the whole “If it wasnt in half-life, it its not in BM” has been said like jabillion times since the orginal forum ever came up.

‘Hey guys I think it would be cool if the Gluon Gun caused enemies to disintegrate’ = worthy post.

‘as far as I know uranium does make people disintegrate’ = post that demands an overwhelming response denouncing it as nonsense.

Why not do a mix of both. Make him do a disintegrating death effect then in mid air explode. Worked great in the original SMOD.

I think to make everyone happy, you’d have to make it blow away meat and organs, and then melt the skeleton.

And we all know that’s not going to fucking happen.

That puppy is so cu-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNGGGGG

As long as I can dodge a still beating heart after shooting it, I’m cool with anything the Gluon Gun does. Except sex.
Sex with an energy weapon =/= safe

At first my reaction to this was:fffuuu: but then I actually thought about it and it really does make sense. That disintegration effect has always been extremely satisfying and that direct energy beam that the gluon gun gives off does seem like it could have similar properties to the hunter fletchets/stalker canon/AR2 alt fire. Obviously it should be an insta-kill for enemies, since that’s not how it was in HL1, but when health does drop to 0, the type of death could happily be that disintegration effect.
Though Chubba’s idea on how the beam works sounds like a fairly accurate analysis of what could be observed of the gluon gun in HL1.

:’( Thank you…:’( Thank…you.

let it kill like the laz0r rifle in fear;leaving just a bloody skelet.yeah

I thought that was a destabilizer cannon.

why dont you just keep it original ?
-gibbing…

or jsut remove the weapon.everyone would be happy

The idea is also to enhance where enhancements are appropriate. Gibbing was the standard method of death for ALL weapons that didn’t just have the corpse drop. The question this brings up is whether the Gluon gun gibbed because it was supposed to gib, or because Valve was conserving resources by not creating another style of death just for a single weapon. I personally would prefer having a variety of death styles to keep things interesting. If I want to see exploding guts I can always use one of the many other weapons that will cause that effect.

If worst came to worst, I’m pretty sure that this sounds like something that could easily be handled with a simple variable such as “GluonGibs” that can be set to 0 if you want the gluon gun to have the disintegration effect instead of gibbing.

Disintegrating is all well and good, but nothing is quite as satisfying as have the enemy blast backwards right across the room, then maybe one of those gibs you guys are so keen on.

It would be nice if the gluon gun ‘charred’ enemies (drew burn decals on their models) before eventually gibbing them. I expect this will happen anyway… but I felt it was worth mentioning.

It would also be nice if there was some sort of graphical effect that occured on gibbing with the gluon gun which looked like some sort of energetic implosion at the end of the beam… purely for aesthetic purposes, and to give a more plausible reason to why your target just spontaneously turned into slabs of meat.

I’d like to see the look on their faces when they see all it does is ragdoll them.
