In blast pit, I am able to skip the tentacles by dropping down from the second level to the bottom level through a hole in the grating.
This is obviously intended in some manner (I do not break the game to do it) but I am reporting it as a glitch because it seriously cheapens this boss battle, as you only ever have to go through the rocket fire chamber twice.

Yeah, but you have to get back up still. And you could actually do the same thing in original.
I can confirm this too. Dropped there by mistake twice.
Yeah, I used that, and actually thought it was an intentional bypass for the vigilant. Saved me a grenade and a couple seconds.
Also, it only saves you time if you go to the Gas Pumps first (which makes sense, seeing as it’s closer to where you enter, but it’s still totally up to the player).
