Gibs and blood. I want to stop vomiting.

I’ve complained about this on so many games it isn’t funny, but I don’t care, and I still get squeamish at the sight of blood and the new gib system grosses me out. If anybody has done or plans on replacing blood textures or removing gibs, be my guest. But if nobody has, I may be making my first actual contribution to the community.

Here’s the deal:
violence_hblood and violence_hgibs blah blah they don’t work as well on black mesa. I’ve made a texture edit for half life 2 that removes some of the blood in the game (zombies mostly) and I may do a similar project on Black Mesa.

Example of my HL2 zombie edit
oh and If you are like me here’s a download: https://www.mediafire.com/?toustyq9qdlqt88

Then why do you play violent videogames?

hands are blue because the HL2 zombo’s hands are mapped to a photo of a piece of bacon with the saturation turned all the way up.

This would be right up your alley, Sanic:

In all seriousness there’s a Cvar to turn the gibs off. As for the blood itself…

This.

It’s like a guy who suffers from vertigo specifically looking for jobs that require him to be on very high heights with little to no protection and then complain to everyone how much vertigo it produces on him.

A lucky combination of ragdoll fetishism and target shooting as a hobby?

There is a setting to turn off gibs completely.

As for the blood, it doesn’t even look real or that convincing. But that’s just me. Besides, a similar system is already in place for HL2Ep2.

If you’ve already done reskins, BM shouldn’t be much of an issue for you then. You might have to mess with some particle effects though.

You can take a few hours to ad $cl_nodraw to the VMT for each blood and gunshot decal, and then because steam doesn’t cache the vanilla content in mods like it does with actual games you can probably save time by just deleting the particles from their directories

Yeah I’ve seen that lol.
And Jesus Christ, I only really expected this to be taken as joking/trolling, like https://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3008953 this stupid thread that even I was joking about.

If I did delete the particle effects, reskin the textures and etc, would it be something worth releasing, or I am the only one?

There’s a difference here. I try to fix the problem myself first, looking around the files, and because I’m a complete dumbass compared to the amazing things people here know, I don’t really have much else.
Plus in the FAQ it doesn’t have anything about the “content lock” part of HL1.
I think the main thing is, I don’t want to take video games seriously. Because they aren’t reality. I know that realism was what made Half-life special back in the day, but I just don’t see it, and it also really is that the game’s blood and gibs mean that I can’t play it around anyone else without them being seriously insulted/disgusted. Sorry.

and those:
-reanimate scientist for sci zombie model
-reanimate guard for grd zombie model
-make non cuted version of zombie torso.
-replace zombie legs with nothing
-replace all flesh gibs with nothing
-set no drawing in every blood decal and effect vmt file in materials/ decals and effects.
Gotta warn ya’ that all killed npc’s will fall into floor with tupyn’ vio_hb 0 and othr.
that shoud be it (tell me if i forgot something).
I love hl series, but in fact i hate violence.

That will make the game kinda silly.
Don’t make the zombies like alive humans trying to haunt you.
It better be like HL German Edition.

tht is not wiolence. i hate extreme violence. :meh:

they will still have headcrabs on theyr head! XD

Man, just don’t play them then. These games will always have blood and guts in them, you’re gonna have to get used to it. Be thankful that the gore isn’t like Hobo with a Shotgun.

heh, I fucking love this movie

:stuck_out_tongue: bljack…
