You never know if someone tried the gun, if it was factory tested, whatever. There’s a million and one ways the gun could be loaded. And even if there was absolutely no way for the gun to have been loaded at the time, you’d still treat it like it was loaded, just because you do that every other time you touch a gun. No reason to break your routine for one occasion that the routine isn’t necessary.
Of course, the assumption that there was absolutely no way the gun was loaded was false.
Of course, it’s not like we’re exactly rooting for him to live long and have lots of tard babies.
