Getting dizzy when playing the original half life.

I get seriously sick when playing HL2 and HL2:E1. I’m okay with E2 or any other Source game, though.

I blame the FOV.

A question: how old are you?

Why: if you are too young, some parts of your nervous system could not be fully developed. I used to get dizzy when I was playng Dark Messiah when I was young

If you have glasses get the anti glare coating for them it helped get rid of the motion sickness for me in all games except portal still played it though!

I used to go to an internet cafe repeatedly a couple years ago. There was this one computer there that, if I used it, I would subsequently get massive headaches and blind spots and nausea, similar to feelings I got when I was a little kid and shined one of those laser pointers directly into my eye. I don’t know if it could be related.

that computer was possessed.

Only one of the computers? I wonder if someone messed up the refresh rate on it or something?

It’ll be the refresh rate on the monitor. Flickering. I had the same thing once, but it was caused by a strip light

Exactly the same symptoms

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaahhhh

Hello Hello, Hola!

I’m getting dizzy at acade’s signature.

I have the same simulation sicknes problem.
This could help:

  • playing in window mode
  • illuminate your room well
  • turn off the sound
  • take breaks
  • don’t play when drugged

Maybe the table on this side is also helpfull:

Maybe you’re one of those people that can’t handle head-bobbing.

check the refresh rate anything below 60 is bad!I had an old screen that was below 60 and it gave me a headache.

Anything below 85 is bad for me, at least for CRT screens.

This is excellent advice, don’t play in the dark

Ideally there should be no glare on the screen, sort of 90 degrees to your window/light/roaring fire is ideal

I only play in the dark.

Well for the original HL1 with the GoldScr engine…try decreasing the gamma. It helped for me.
(I’m new too).
