Get Black Mesa on Steam! We can do it!

Because Cry of Fear wasn’t pulled, so we don’t have to worry about it getting pulled on the engine’s technicality, since there’s no charge. If they WERE charging for it, THEN source would be a problem.

However, on the IP, Valve has kind of backed itself into the corner, by showing positive support in the past. If they blocked this, they’d be pissing off at least 40,000 people.

That’s possible. Systems like this have a curve. When the curve’s peak is reached is a function of how many total events act in the system. In this case, that would be the total number of people interested in voting for Black Mesa ever.

So, if the total number of people interested in voting for Black Mesa on Greenlight is (roughly) twice the number of votes required for Greenlight, then the rate will continue to accelerate to the end of the voting. If the total number is less than twice the requirement, then you’ll see a decrease in rate before the voting ends.

Also, the curve won’t be perfectly smooth, it will be a bit like a saw or zig-zaggy, with small rate fluctuations, but the curve’s mean moves in the same general direction. So, if you’re tracking the votes, don’t freak out if the rate is slightly less than it was an hour ago.

We are now the number 8 game on Greenlight!

Somebody knows their probability. I’m not worrying about the votes, it’ll get there. I’m just worried Valve might pull something stupid.

Will there be steam support for released games? What if they broke soemthing with a new engine update next week for a mod? Its just strange for me that the officaly relased free downlaodable source mods on steam are changed after they got released on steam, for example Synergie, anybodey remember the old one where you could be with postal 2 model and use weapons from hl2 beta?

Wow, Black Mesa devs are on a fucking ROLL.

The Black Mesa votes bloat out every other submission.
That’s my Black Mesa!

13% and counting, I also voted and will be voting from my friend’s computer later today.

Every once in a while an idiot shows on the comments asking why is the team trying to charge for the game…
God these people can’t read a description :fffuuu:

Theres a lot o people what even know that BMS will be release soon, that will boost the number of people talking about it, even me inactive for 5 years, i just have notice the countdown because of one that kotaku news, and the greenlight is new stuff. i think that in 2 or 3 days we will reach 100%.

There’s also some retards from 4chan who downvote the submission because…they are retards, they don’t need a reason.

Voted + tweeted + passed around friends. Although I’m surprised you guys even have to go through the Green Light process, you’d think it’d be an automatic Steam jobbie, given the nature of the mod and the fact that Valve have OK’d the project. Oh well, I guess nothing’s ever as clear cut sat on the outside looking in. Best of luck guys.

Black Mesa currently ranked #8 in less the 11 hours. We can do it!

But it is fun to go through the greenlight process. It’s like a giant hype generator.

EDIT: what the fuck hubi, where’d your name go?

What’s the total number of votes necessary?

100,000 is the unweighted requirement.

Also, some idiot is spouting that it will release early if it gets accepted, and he’s trying to make it sound like it was a statement of fact. I want him to shut up.

Cry of fear wasn’t, but Nightmare house 2 and a portal 2 mod were. Plus Underhell could get pulled too. Source mods are not safe on Green Light because Green Light is not meant for source mods

Just out of curiosity, do you know for sure if it was the author’s posting those mods?

The biggest difference I see with Black Mesa is that it could potentially run WITHOUT use of another game.

Guys, this is fucking AWSOME! Already voted and shared to my friends!

Okay I voted. I think it was at like 13% or 14%. I also voted for Receiver and that one 1980s moon survival horror game.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
