Oh look, it’s THIS thread agai- wait…

HAI GAIZ, DID I MISS SUMTHIN-

Some new company called valve seems to be making a System Shock ripoff called Half-Lives or something.

half-live? lol even the name sounds stupid

I bet it’s going to be all graphics and lots of valves you have to use to pass levels.

Probably some kind of puzzle game with pipes blended in.

I kind of like the idea of an action game with puzzles thrown into it. It’s more realistic since real-life isn’t all action or all puzzles, but a mix. Imagine turning a wheel in order to open the right valve… and the challenge if letting go allowed it to slide back into place!

If they keep all of the gameplay in pipes, they’ll be able to make their graphical system more powerful than anything that’s preceded it, since it will only have to render one enemy on the screen at a time. The resolution of their sprites could almost be one-to-one at 800x600.

1x1 sprites?!
This is madness.

I know. I don’t think the hardware is ready for this kind of madness yet.

id software claims they can make a fully polygonal game with texture maps. That’s fucking crazy talk.

I wanna see it before i believe anything.

i read somewhere that soon video games will turn into an industry and before we know it we will be spending money on maps, in addition to the game

hahahah what a load of bs

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
