Immigration is a funny thing. Everyone thinks that their country is the worst affected by immigration.
All the Ukrainians complain about the immigrants from the Asiatic 'stan countries (Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan…etc)
All the Polish complain about the Ukrainian immigrants.
All the British complain about the Polish immigrants.
Although I did learn an interesting fact recently; it seems that Ukraine’s population has dropped by 3 million in the last few years due to immigration. Everyone is running away.
The Japanese complain about Chinese and Korean immigrants.
etc
It’s natural to have a feeling that you’re being invaded when you suddenly get a large influx of people from another country. I guess it stems from our territorial instinct left over from being animals. First it was a pack, then a tribe, then a community, then village, city, country, nation. We keep close to our own kind and to allow ‘outsiders’ into our world is a little scary.
It’s instinct. You feel safer with those of your own kind. (even if that’s not always the reality)
