Games/Old Games you like to see Continued

You don’t need to put all your posts in big bold red letters you attention whore.

Yes. I discovered that game on GOG, and loved it. There was, once, a team that tried to redo it, but they never managed to finish it.

Thirded.

I still need to beat the original.

I always made an attempt to kill those dogs. I was usually successful, as I couldn’t stand running away from them.

I actually prefer the over the shoulder perspective, though the execution and presentation of both RE0 and REmake were phenomenal. If they made an HD Resident Evil in the style of the PSone titles, they better do a pretty darn good job of it. I don’t want to be wishing for the over the shoulder perspective.

As far as bringing back a particular genre; I would love to see Vehicle Combat to make a return. I loved playing the Twisted Metals, BattleTanxs, and Vigilante 8’s of that era. There was a pretty cool tank combat game on the Dreamcast that I played as a kid, but I can’t remember what that was called, but that was pretty cool too.

Doom, keeping like original doom/Serious Sam style (I did enjoy Doom3, so wonder what doom 4 be like)

FreeSpace (best space sim EVER, X-Wing just as good) But there is NO hope of Freespace 3. Though Lucasrts did hint slightly at an Xwing/Tie Fighter remake, but dont think its going to happen now.

Also I did like the Project IGI games, not for everybody, but loved how hard and strategic you had to be. With James Bond feel popped in for good measure

Oh yea and Half Life lol

Pity it sucks.

  • Alien vs predator 2.

Not the Alien Versus predator, that was a pure monster failure.

Viet Cong Series.

I want Manhunt 3, it have to be.

And I want to see Arcanum 2 happen through :frowning:

Myst, Riven etc…

id has said that Doom 4 will be more action-oriented like the originals, rather than more horror-oriented like Doom 3.

Lighthouse, Phantasmagoria, Shivers, Sanitarium.

Destroy all Humans!

mirrors edge 2

I kinda want a sequel to RF: G thats like the original. It’ll never happen now though.

Not when your 8

Wow, I’ve seen some awesome suggestions these last 5 pages, some of which has gotten me to install the oldies again. I’m sure a bunch of the titles I’m gonna list here have been mentioned before, but who cares anyway?

Beforehand I would like to say: forgive my broken English, I am not a native speaker/writer.

My two cents:
Outcast. A nearly forgotten 1997 action-adventure game using Voxel graphics. Great story, atmosphere and gameplay. Beautiful music and… a cancelled (PS2 only at the time) sequel. :[ There is a fan project, much like BMS to revamp the original but… I don’t see it happening.
Best thing about Outcast that everything was explained in universe. Why does a paralel world speak english too? Well… that’s all part of the reveal. Such a great game.
Good to see a user named Ulukai on this forum. I always kind of fear that I am one of the few people left alive to remember this game.

MechWarrior. And non of this MechAssault arcade style gameplay either. Remember the old ones back in 95 with the whole simulated key mapping? My god, that was awesome! If a new one has to come out, I’d like to see:

  • The Invasion of the Clans storyline from Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. So subtle at first!
  • The Mech costumization options from Mechwarrior 2 and 3.
  • The gritty world graphics from Mechwarrior 3 (with updates of course), MW4 was too cartoony in my opinion. Realistic graphics fit the setting so much more.
  • The AI and mass combat from MechWarrior 4. Any who read the novels would just love to see the battle of Tukayyid or Luthien play out (hundreds of Mechs fighting it out!).
  • A soundtrack from Jeehun Hwang (MW2 series).
  • Dual joystick and footpedal input capability. Hell, I want to simulate the real experience! Purely optional of course…
  • Ooh… and melee combat on capable Mech’s, like in the novels… Having an Atlas pick up and smash a 25 ton light Mech is pure awesomenesss.
  • NO DARK AGE STORYLINE.

Ok… easy now, fanboy mode off.

Other games:
Yes, Psychonauts! Although the original would be a tough act to follow.

Monkey Island games with the graphics from Curse of Monkey Island. I don’t care much for the shiny polished Grim Fandango style 3D graphics of Escape, although Tales was much better about it. I still think the painted/cartoon style of the third fit the game perfectly. The HD remakes… meh.

Crimson Skies (PC version) deserves a sequel/pretty remake as well. Xbox version I liked, but the customization on the PC version is preferable.

I heard that a reboot/continuation of Command and Conquer is on the horizon. Let’s hope they pick up from the gritty atmosphere, style and storyline of Tiberian Sun. Reviewers always talk about the whole ‘over the top acting’ and ‘cartoonish action’. What the hell! Did they never play the original Red Alert? Pretty dark storyline! Sure, the acting was over the top, but then again, those were not real actors! I kind of disliked the A-list actors in TibSun, but the Firestorm expansion was better about it (and like the originals, the player was addressed as the Commander like in the original, not some Hollywood actor).
Don’t get me wrong, I like all the other C&C’s, with the possible exception of C&C4 Tiberian Twilight and the not very C&C like Generals/Zero Hour, but I prefer the darker storylines of C&C TibDawn/TibSun and original Red Alert.

Any mod team out there who wants to redo Starcraft and Brood Wars on the Starcraft II engine? Of course, SC2: WoL is pretty good, but it is kind of annoying to have to go and wait for the next installment yet again for a long while. Heck, Brood Wars was out before anyone knew what hit them.

Homeworld… just Homeworld. I loved Cataclysm and Homeworld 2. But the gameplay of Homeworld, the original, has not been equalled. Refuelling fighters and more emphasis on the tactical stance of your units made the game a lot harder, and interesting. Also, I didn’t care much for the whole ‘AI scales to your fleet’ “cheating” in Homeworld 2. Now that Relic has the rights back to this series, here’s to hoping another title is on the horizon.

Whatever happened to the Freespace universe after the second game? They call FS2 a genre killer, but I certainly hope not! The mod community still keeps FS2 alive though, ever since the SDK was released. Still, a proper sequel I would like to see.

Full Throttle… I was sad to learn that the sequel was cancelled (just keep pumping out more Star Wars junk, Lucasarts!). Then again, the original is perfect just the way it is…

Duke Nukem 3D. Screw Forever, DN3D is still the best in my opinion. Recently I read an article that they’re gonna redo DN3D on the Unreal 3 engine… hooray!

Am I the only one who ever dreamed of game company DICE mixing their Battlefield and Mirror’s Edge franchises together? Online play would be so freakin’ awesome.

Whatever happened to the Tie Fighter/X-Wing total package rerelease I seem to recall? A new title in the series would be cool, but I’m afraid it will be catered to the console market with over simplified controll schemes.

Star Wars: Republic Commando. It ended on such a cliffhanger… At least in my opinion. One of the best Star Wars titles in recent years… and the people back over at Lucas never bothered to come up with a sequel. Too compare: Force Unleashed II did manage to see the light of day? WHAT THE HELL?!

A new Sim City… and non of this “Societies” stuff either. Though I would believe that SC4 is hard to top, the most complete city simulator delivered so far.

Isn’t it about time for a faithful remake of the 7th Guest? The 11th Hour never did manage to live up to its predecessor.
On a sidenote: has anyone besides me ever played the kid friendly Clandestiny from the same company? You’re rewarded with a feature length cartoon if you managed to complete it, playing all cutscenes in one long movie.
Yes, I know… not a sequel request here, but sometimes the oldies could use a bit of shine and polish, eh fellow Black Mesa: Source fans?

A new Jedi Knight game. With Kyle Katarn only. I’d settle for a Jedi Outcast mod on the Jedi Academy engine (more moves/powers) though. Jedi Academy… meh. I kind of liked it, but the Kyle Katarn storyline of Jedi Outcast is much better.
Hmmm… all Dark Forces/Jedi Knight (sans Academy) games remade on the Source or Unreal 3 engine in one big complete package… I’d buy that!

I agree with dblkion, I would like to see a game like Alien vs. Predator 2 again. The new one from a while back was nothing like AvP 2 for the PC. I didn’t bother much with the expansion (Primal Hunt), which was not made by Monolith Studios like AvP2 itself.
Looking back at the list Monolith Studios ever made by themself… wow. Quite a few good titles on there:

  • Alien vs. Predator 2
  • F.E.A.R. (original only)
  • F.E.A.R. 2
  • TRON 2.0
  • Blood + its sequel.
To this day I still see Monolith as one of the few companies who can pull off genuinly scary FPS games, good movie adaptations or both at the same time.
Shame they didn’t do F.E.A.R. 3, because that game sure as hell was not as scary as the first two, and the storyline stopped to make much sense after the 2nd.

Deus Ex… but a prequel is on the horizon. Again a request for a remake on the original one. There are quite a few graphic modifications available, but the changes are minimal. No… the original Deus Ex on a more recent engine would be quite awesome.
Say… when you guys are done with Black Mesa Source, how about…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
