Game Options do not save

The Black Mesa Game Options (view roll, Houndeye tinnitus, etc) always load default values when I quit and come back in. So in effect I need to set them every time I run the game.

EDIT: Upon further investigation it seems that the check boxes are unaffected. Primarily, the view roll always resets to the default which is problematic for people like me who prefer it off.

I am facing the same issues also, that’s unable to save the view roll settings at Option page. I am using Windows 8

Exact same thing happens to me. I adjust the view roll options and if I restart the game it’s back to the default setting. It’s rather annoying to have to constantly toggle it every time. I’m not sure how many of the other options do this.

The same here (windows7 x64) ;o) I prefer to disable auto-aim and it keeps reseting each time.
Edit: oh and UAC is disabled and Steam is installed at D : (if it can help)

Same here, though the only two times the game has been closed so far was due to crashes, so I didn’t know if that affected it. Guess not.

I have this as well. I’m trying to go with a very light view roll, but each time I restart, it’s back at maximum. Sort of annoying to set it back all the time, hah :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here, very annoying. Even trying to set the options in the autoexec.cfg doesn’t work.

Running Windows 8 64bit

Yes yes, tried to modify config.cfg and set it to “read only” but does not help. Hope there is no other config.cfg hidden somewhere under Documents&Settings

Seems like the game tries to modify an userconfig.cfg and fails at it.
The console shows the following if you try to modify a setting from the Black Mesa tab:

exec: couldn’t exec userconfig.cfg

If you create an empty userconfig.cfg you get the following:

exec userconfig.cfg: file size larger than 1 MB!

Same problem!

Setting the config.cfg to read only keeps my binds intact, but not the “Black Mesa” settings.

I’ve got the same issue

I thought that was a problem related to Windows folder/file permissions:
it’s a common issue when a software try to write something in C:\Program Files.
I tried to solve it, running hl2 as an administrator ,but nothing has changed.
I had the same message:

exec: couldn’t exec userconfig.cfg
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/config.cfg

spec:windows 7 32 bit.

You dont have to set it to read-only for the bindings cause they will stay anyway.

Not for me. I use custom keys for a lot of stuff and 50% of them get changed if it is able to write over the config.cfg file on launch.

I hope this bug gets fixed very soon - The roll thing makes me feel uncomfortable (no game has ever done that to me before)

I also tend to play for between 30 and 60 minutes at a time, go do something else for a while, and come back to the game… So, yesterday I think I reset that roll thing to 0 about 6 times.

Yeah, same here. And I second your (no game has ever done that to me before). Why in the hell would they such a worthless option in the game in the first place? Who knows… Either way, it’s broke and hopefully will get fixed soon, but I wouldn’t count on it.

I posted a fix here.
