oke let the release speculatinos begin again!

OMG black mesa is beeying relseaed at the end of march!!!

Hoooo shit now I have 2 things to look forward to in March; info on the new Black Mesa, and it not being so fucking cold!

I fail to see where the info on the new Black Mesa bit is coming from.

I meant the Steam version, I assume that’s what they’re going to be talking about.

The article only says “The Black Mesa Modification Team shares the challenging development history of its Half-Life remake.”

Yeah but isn’t it weird timing? It’s nowhere close to the first release. So the idea that this article may suggest the Steam release is near does make some kind of sense. That’s not necessarily the case, of course, but if not it’d be a weird moment to ship out this report.

Doesn’t that sound kind of… not their style?

We already know the Steam release is near. It says it’s about the history of development, best not to expect anything other than that.

Can’t wait to read about it!

Perhaps, but in the publishing industry you would first have to know that it was getting ready to come out and that’s something that neither BM or Steam would let be known. Secondly, stories like this are scheduled to be done months in advance.

Most likely they’ll have something to announce with the article, if only that they have nothing to announce yet.

6 PAGES? Wow that is what triple-A titles normally get.

Between the quality of the mod and the new steam release, Black Mesa’s practically a triple-A game already. Maybe just a double-A game.

One thing to consider is that Portal 2 was initially announced through Game Informer, right after the ARG finished up.

Black Mesa gets bonus points for being a game that was made nearly from scratch by part-time modders.

True about mod and hugely impressive, but the steam commercial release will be treated like every other commercial game and all the gameplay balancing problems and glitches will be pointed out by reviewers this time.

As customers we shouldn’t really care that some of them work at three different game dev studios at the same time.

I’m sure hardly anyone knew that or cared.

Which is why I’m hoping they rethink their art direction with the HECU (HL1 = Professional, BMS = Walking Jokes), fix the Vort animations, and heavily work on the HECU AI (feels unfinished).

The issue came out Feb 4th for digital subscribers. Guess there are not very many interested in BM, google gives me nothing.

I’m a digital subscriber. It’s a pretty interesting look into the history of Black Mesa, but don’t expect anything resembling a release date.

Any screenshots from the new builds? Any kind of new info? Did they even mention the crowbar collective?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
