future

:frowning: ,society gets dumber and dumber,so the number of musicians only drops
if the number of musicians keeps dropping the only logical answer is:no musicians in the near future, the human brain will be to simple to understand such complicated arrangement of sounds

/discuss

No.

Sure people are idiots nowadays but music styles are constantly evolving, and IMHO in my lifetime music will change so dramatically it would be incomparable to what we have now. I canā€™t say how it will be different since I cannot time travel.

What Iā€™d like to see is a computer analyze your brain somehow and generate music ā€œcustomizedā€ to your tasteā€¦ imagine hearing perfect music whenever you want.

bullshit!
culture is constantly evolving, even music culture.
to say what you have, in the first post of this thread, is goddamn retarded.

EDIT Ninjaā€™d by a few minutes

:retard: wantz!
but be reallistical,we are a good 20-30 years away from this,if not more :frowning:

Iā€™m pretty sure what ever happens people will still be making music.

you forget the days of lutes and harps and skin drums? not that many people in those bands.

also in that present day picture you have convinently cut out the other three or four people making music therefore your argument is invalid.

words go here

Hell, I think music culture is actually growingā€¦ think about all the bands youā€™ve heard about before joining the forums, and then take a look at all the bands in the ā€œwhat are you listening to v3ā€ thread

There are so many more styles of music nowadays then there was back then.

Whats interesting about the music industry is that as a new style is introduced, it never disappears ā€“ sure, it might lose popularity, but even the oldest major genre of music (folk/classical) is still in widespread popularity today.

@OP
Hereā€™s a challenge:
search ā€œmusicā€ on youtube once a week for a month
then try saying music culture is dying.

The future of music? It will find a way for the mainstream music to go further down the shithole. But good music will thrive in places people rarely look.

Pretty good pic for 1800.

The fact thereā€™s a picture of an orchestra destroys your terrible ā€œWE SUCKā€ theory (Which I think is ignorant, to say the least).

hell yeah,mainstream music sucks!
iā€™ll go with metal and pagode <- link

the future of music is democratization of both production and distribution. there are already tools to make one performer sound like an orchestra, there are tools to transpose note input into whatever scale or mode you please, there are tools to turn stoned mumbling into tuneful singing (T-Payne) there are tools to instantaneously make your productions available to millions over the internet - itā€™s only going to get easier.

Disney Music (Jonas Brothers/Hanna Montana)=/= mainstream music

wut

Listen to this and tell me that music is dead.

edit: :retard:

this is the future of music

Good music has only existed underground for the last 40 years. Every once in a while something pokes through the ground layer of shit and reaches the surface, but for the most part good music goes unheard by the vast majority of the population. But the vast majority of people are retarded so its no great loss.

You should see the bullshit played on MTVU. God damn it.

The music videos are so ā€œtrendyā€ and ā€œhipā€. I just want to chuck something at the TV.
