French Court Convicts Scientologists of Fraud!

So Garth, when I challenge you to back up your claims, you just completely ignore me and walk out the figurative door?

And the “Anti Science Sentiments” that you specifically mentioned are not THAT common amongst Christians. Evolution is a highly debated subject that many Christians do not believe in, but overall, it’s irrelevant in ‘stopping science’ if people choose to not believe in Evolution. Things such as anti-stem cells is not really that people are against all stem cell research, but the killing of unborn children and then dissecting them as if they are some kind of animal.

I’ve got news for you, man. And I don’t think you’re going to like it.

What?
Oh, fuck. I was just using a completely obscure but possible example of “what could of been is science ruled the world” and as an attempt to get a few lulz. But now I see where I get my ideas from.
Once again, :fffuuu:

aww crap, whoever opened this can of worms should be crowbar’d

This one goes out to Winged One!

Jews in Jerusalem, debating about Christianity around the year of our Lord 33 or so:

Sounds familiar? :retard:

Those people are morons. I don’t fear death because I believe there’s a heaven, but no god. And if he existed, I would do everything to stay out of Heaven because 1:I think most people who go to Heaven are pure hearted wussies, and I hate those people, and 2: God would be nothing more but some spoilt kid. He doesn’t get mention in the thank you note to the cosmos from some humans, and he wipes them out with lightning.

Wait, so you’re calling people who believe in god morons, but somehow believing in heaven but not in god is perfectly acceptable?

Your two points there are beyond retarded as well.

I don’t fear death because I know what it actually is. The end of all physical and psychic functions. Death cannot create fear or pain in me, because a functioning nerve system is required to feel that. Dying may be a strange and frightening experience, but the bodies of dying people are known to be flooded with serotonine and endorphines to the max, which is why people see a blinding light and feel soothed and relieved when having a near death experience. So there is really nothing to worry about dying or being dead. It’s not like being dead is something one can consciously feel. You just cease to exist, and all the energy that was required to power your brain cells and your organs dissipates into the environment, as simple warmth.

Actually, this sounds a lot more soothing to me than some paradise fantasy from some brainwashed morons who believe in a book written by a couple of hippies 2000 years ago. Paradise would get fucking boring so fucking fast. After a few decades I would start a war in heaven, just for the action and some lulz.

Winged One, I see your desire to stay out of a debate that always ends poorly, and I commend you for your attempts. (Now you know how us Christians feel every time we are faced with mob debates like this.) I normally refuse to get too deep into these threads, (and I admit I have not read everything) but feel compelled to attempt to answer some of the comments that were directed pointedly to me.

I will make this short… There are many Christians out there that believe God and evolution are not actually totally exclusive of each other. I don’t think evolution happened the way it currently is taught, but I do believe God used evolution methods to get the job done.

Haha, a little off topic, but right after I got done reading your last paragraph, I simply stared at your sig for like 20 seconds lol.

hehe… it is named redwiggle.gif

::wiggles a bit:::

I absolutely agree with you. The only thing I am afraid of is how I’m dying.

I myself fear the nothingness afterward, since I cannot (I don’t think anyone can) comprehend it. There would be no light, no sound, no time, and no thought, and you wouldn’t be able to recognize the void. No memory, no dreams, you just cease to be.

Yep. The process is what is most frightening about it. The outcome is nothing to worry about. Needless to say that religious fundamentalists have proven most successful and creative in thinking up more and more efficient ways to increase the amount of suffering in the process of dying - especially for people who would not believe THEIR bullshit, but rather some other bullshit. Or no bullshit at all, but rather listen to reason and ask for evidence where there is none (which is even worse than believing other bullshit). Which is why I tend to stay at a safe distance from religious people. Only their precious God knows at which point they might go crazy and start burning sane people.

That’s not a disadvantage, but the true gift in death. You wouldn’t be ABLE to recognize anything anymore. Because you wouldn’t need to. You would be gone for good. No pain, no fear, no misery. Just nothingness, but no senses to feel it, no brain to try and utterly fail to comprehend it. Sounds like bliss. Far better than paradise. I mean - a place where everyone is happy forever and ever and ever? Come on! No way.

I welcome nothingness. It’s where all the universe originated from, and where it will end, eventually. I love the concept of death. Because it is the ultimate justice. Everyone has to die. And in death at last everyone is equal. All the wealth that one amasses in life, all the power you gain, all the women you shag, all the people you kill, it doesn’t matter at all in death. You can’t take your riches with you, nor your women, you lose all your power, you become exactly the same as all the people you might have killed (if you were an evil bastard).
I like this idea so much, because it is possibly the worst fear of the most vile motherfuckers on this planet. And it comes true for everyone. Noone escapes death. And as soon as you are dead, noone can do you any more harm. You are out of their reach. Noone can torture you anymore, noone can blackmail you, brainfuck you, play with your fears anymore. You are finally beyond all that. Safe. Gone. Forever.

Beautiful.

This is a wonderful conclusion. What with the internet disconnection fail that France has been pushing, I’d lost hope in the poor country. This is very encouraging.

I am totally with raw_bean on this. This organization is a truly horrible farce that is perpetuating destructive practices and using Hollywood to glamourize it’s ridiculous subtext to steal people’s money. Any efforts to stop the “church” of Scientology, I will applaud with open arms and a cool, refreshing cold one.

To those who have been debating for religious freedom, I certainly don’t have a problem with Scientology, AS A REGLION. People are perfectly entitled to believe whatever complete and utter drivel they like. But, when you have coporate enties that are gaining substatinial profits, decieving people, controlling religious media (the Church of Scientology ostrasizes anyone practicing Scientology on their own), refusing to pay taxes, brutally attacking critics, interfering with the government (Operation Snow White) and manipulating and hurting those confused, in need of mental help, or those wanting to save others, I can’t help but celebrate when they’re put in their place. I can only hope for more.

TL;DR - Church of $cientology bad, religion of Scientology stupid but bearable, I’m a big ranter

However, I have recently discovered that there is indeed a god.
It’s the gold helicopter that can rapid fire missiles at a god-like rate in “Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony.”
[/lulz]

I know this isn’t contributing to the thread, but hey: I’m bored.

In an attempt to not add anything constructive to the forums.

What if you do die and god ends up staring down at you telling you to explain yourself. :fffuuu:

Also that was a well written wall of text.:freeman:, I usually tend to stay away from these arguments since I just say “I don’t like to shut out one possibility I just think that I will die someday and I will find out (or not) if there is an afterlife”.

ITT: tl;dr

In other words, he’s telling us to take a flatliner experiment. :fffuuu:

No, in all seriousness, I guess we won’t know the 100 percent truth unless we take a flatliner experiment and/or die naturally and find out that God is dark energy and that he/she/it is going to have us bad forum members burn in the liquid outer core of the earth at 12,000 degrees or worse annihilate us. Of course, the Big Bang/evolution could all be a big accident or maybe not. Who knows? If it’s on purpose, then God is dark energy, the first cause of the big bang. If not, then dark energy is as unconscious and blind without goal or purpose as natural selection.

DansonDelta40, Well said.
