French Court Convicts Scientologists of Fraud!

define “most anything”

Church of Scientology ad on here. Hurr google ads!

Whoo-hoo! Take em’ down!
And once we DO take em’ down, our next target should be the Cult of Islam! Then the Cult of Christianity! Then take down every other cult (in a peaceful, lawful, but tottally lul worthy manner) until children actually have a chance of learning about the world rather than just assuming “God did it.”

And to anyone that calls me “hateful,” I have a few moronail.com pictures for you:

I think it’s more likely they’ll start exhibiting self-destructive behaviour, like drug or alcohol abuse, or even suicide, thus in many cases making it worse.

Who’s to say what’s acceptable and what’s not, anyway? Leave the judging to the judges, please.

Most anything. Rape, murder, you name it, a good lawyer can twist it into something else for you.

So many, many people have done stupid-sounding acts that, to them seemed to make some sense. History has many examples:
the Nazis
Al Queida

Did anyone notice the anon mask in the picture?

Some folks set their moral compass to the good ol Bible
Some folks set their moral compass to the current society standards
Some folks set their moral compass to newly created religion

But the whole reason we came across the pond in the first place was because we the people did not want to be told which religion or moral compass we were to hold to our heart. I know it has became a popular pasttime to ridicule those that use the Bible to set their moral compass to, but I know the embarrassing fanatics doesn’t help. But every belief system will have their idiot fanatics to deal with. I kinda see Tom Cruise in that arena. I am sure there are those in the Scientology system were facepalming like mad when he started spewing some of that stuff. I dunno.

Regardless, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

I’m pretty sure Tom Cruise only joined the church of scientology for media attention… since his career is slowly going down the pan. Fortunately for him he has enough money to be able to afford to buy into something so absurd.

I think that the French did something great here, maybe this could mark the beginning of a decline in the more blatant mass frauds like scientology and televangelism.

Thank you.

You bring up a good point. But regardless, religion is still not only unnecessary, but also dangerous.

Scroll up to my last post and look at the picture that has a Muslim holding up a sign that says “We Shall Behead Those That Insult Islam.” That is a real person. And Islam really calls themselves “The Religion of Peace.”
Al Qaida is a religious extremist group.
Centuries ago, if someone believed that the Earth was round, they were then executed in the name of “God.”
Many people in the 1800s used a passage in the Bible (“wives, be loyal to your husbands; slaves, be loyal to your owners) to justify both slavery and to use against women’s rights.
RIGHT NOW: Leviticus 20:13 is being used to deny homosexual men and women equal rights.

When I was young, I went to church. I was a good kid (if I do say so myself.) Was it because the power of Christ compelled me to be the best person I can be? No. I was good because I wanted “Santa” to bring me a ton of shit. I (thankfully) stopped believing in Santa a LONG time ago, but I’m still a good kid (if I do say so myself.) However, it is possible that the reason so many kids are complete cunts is because the reason they were “good” was because of the promise of awesome shit under that tree from a benevolent and an omniscient being.
That’s a good way to sum up religion. Kids (religious people in this case) follow whatever “Santa” (“God”) tells them to do in the hopes of getting something in return (“Heaven” for religious people, and a “Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass and a stock and that thing that tells time” for kids.) But when they find out that “Santa” doesn’t exist, sure, some people may be good just for the sake of it, but everyone else will completely lose their senses of good, because the reason they were good was because of something that doesn’t exist. And it’s even worse in this case, because now adults believe in “Santa.”

The worst part? The First Amendment in my countries’ Constitution, the Right to Free Speech, greatest right we have, contains a horrifying loophole that allows this shit to happen.

Religion was invented by mankind to explain the stuff that was unexplainable. Now that it’s explainable we don’t need it anymore. The laws where (this is a theory I came up with) invented by people with power who wanted to get some order in their country/village.

This entire paragraph was based on so much ignorance that I literally facepalmed (and I rarely do that for internet shit, good job). First off, Islam isn’t some devilish religion that promotes beheading and suicide bombings. It was a while ago, and I was young, but I don’t seem to remember Muslims being at the forefront of suspected terrorism, torture, and general chaos before 9/11. In it’s wake, suddenly people wanted a scapegoat, so they blamed all of Islam. Shit went down. Hell, the National Wholesales near my house was nearly shut down because some fucker accused the employees (who were HINDU) of clapping and jumping for joy when the planes hit.

Let’s just destroy this generalization right now. Islam is a religion of peace. Pick out a Muslim man at random from the world’s population. I can guarantee there’s a 99.9% chance he’ll be the calmest nicest man you’ll know. Did you know that Islam actually considers Christians and Jews to be its brothers? They all believe in the same god. Muslims even generally call Christians “Brothers of the Book.” So you can’t blame the entire religion for something done by a couple of deranged people who twist the religion and its teachings to fulfill their own agenda. You shouldn’t blame Islam. And Al Qaeda is hardly a religious group. They just use Islam as a back drop to attempt to justify their atrocities. And do you know why they hate Israel? It’s not cause they’re Jewish. It’s cause they are living off what we Americans arbitrarily took away from its original owners (yes, that means we are partly to blame for the tensions in the Middle East. I think we should have found a better place for Israel…but that’s another matter.)

Now, let’s go on to the whole “world is flat,” thing. First of all, they executed you only if you thought the sun was in the center of the universe (and that was farther back than you probably think). Second, science proved this to be false. And, surprise, all self-respecting Christians admit they were wrong. As I stated before, religion continually becomes more refined as science advances.

Next, the Bible. The Bible shouldn’t be taken literally. Rather, most Christians accept that the Bible is a collection of stories and parables to teach a lesson. And it has gone through so many revisions and re-writes by random people it’s quite unclear what actually is intended to be read or was original.

And religious folk aren’t the only ones against gays. Sure, they don’t help, but there are plenty of secular people who just don’t like them and think they’re weird and unnatural.

Religion isn’t some sadistic conspiracy, so don’t treat it like that.

Convicting Scientologists and chemically castrating pedophiles? Damn, France! How you get so fly?!

You give European medieval society way too much credit.
Every advance in science that went against the religious beliefs held at the time was met with controversy and every effort was made to keep it from being published.

I shit you not.

Is this for real? Seriously?

Unfortunately, yes. Also, unfortunately, a lot of them believe that not because of religion, but because they’re conspiracy nuts.

And had religion not been around to hold back science, we could of been colonizing Mars by now in our solar powered space cars.
Got Cancer? Don’t worry. Take a tablet and you’ll be fine within seconds.
That could of been us! But now we’re a thousand years behind just because someone said something that contradicted a work of fiction.

Religion is based off faith. Science is based of logic reason and evidence.

Reasons to believe
Religion:
Your pastor tells you it’s true. Millions of ordinary people believe it. It makes you feel good. You have less of a reason to fear death as there is a “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” A several thousand year old book and several rewritten versions of it tell you it’s true. You can personalize and twist religion to fit whatever fancies you.

Science and Evolution:
Your greatest scientific figures tell you it’s true and the tell you WHY it’s true. thousands of educated people who use their head to answer the questions of the universe tell you it’s true and WHY it’s true. Admits that it doesn’t know all the answers to the universe rather then pulling them out of its ass and then killing you when you disagree. Appeals to your intellect, not your emotions. Derived from logic reason testing and evidence, not thousand year old fairy tails. Helps the world by providing top of the line medical research and general knowledge of the universe. A certain set of beliefs is agreed upon by all members of the field and are not changed simply on whim or benefit.

This is why religion is wrong, but not why it is bad. the reason religion is bad is since the dawn of time it has impeded progress in every way shape and form possible. From the crusades to anti-stem cell and genetic research religion has impeded progress and will continue to do so until it is wiped out.
