To a lesser extent, I have also been enjoying Shepard’s Mind and Barny’s Mind.
Apparently he has been asked that several times before. He said that he doesn’t know if he will use Black Mesa, that he will see when the time comes.
I’ve heard rumors (probably from Mr. Scott himself) that, if he does use Black Mesa, he would probably do the switchover after Gordon gets knocked out and thrown in the garbage crusher.
Who knows?
For me, in particular, at first I was peeved that he had Gordon doing “pull ups” (getting into the ventilation shaft in the walk-in freezer and into the overhead walkway with the vending machine and such), but I figure, if he can take shortcuts and produce more and not get involved in the game-mechanics induced minutiae, let Gordon do all the pull-up-shortcuts he can!
dude, look two posts above yours.
I also like Ross having Gordon do pullups. It adds much more realism into the whole story. Also that he avoids areas like the storage room in Office Complex. As a gamer, you’d definetly check it out, but as a scientist trying to reach the surface as fast as possible, you would give a shit about them. The same with HEV batteries and so on. I just like his realistic approach. Fun to watch how little sense the many things one undoubtedly does in the game make.
I hope he doesn’t use Black Mesa for his videos. Mostly for consistency.
What consistency errors are you talking about?
Mostly the jump from the original goldsrc graphics with unrealistic level design (which is half of what makes Freeman’s mind funny) to hyper-realistic source graphics with nothing unrealistic to comment on, thus removing from the funny factor.
Tentacles and Gargs are obviously realistic. You fail to see a refreshing shitload of possibilities to make shitloads of new puns when BM comes out.
And no, puns towards level design were only occasional. Plus after a couple of times, same puns all over again get boring.
You guys cannot see further than your nose.
BM is an opportunity for Mr. Scott to invent something new.
That’s not what I was referring to and you know it. :meh:
I just think Freeman’s mind should stay in Goldsrc and not move to BM. It just wouldn’t be as funny, I think. It would be far too much of a jump and honestly the best parts of Freeman’s Mind (and no they are not just occasional puns, it’s pretty constant) were when he would comment on the strange quirks of HL1 , like the AI and the level design. Stop being so patronizing.
^ Just want to say, Ross uses Half Life: Source for Freemen’s Mind.
 That doesn’t matter at all. It’s exactly the same as HL: goldsrc with prettier water.
Well, it still makes your previous post wrong
He is actually partly right.
I remember Ross writing on his webpage that he had to use HL1 for some scenes, because HL: Source has a barnacle bug when recording demos.
Just general consistency of switching from one game to another.
And yet I bet that Scott would tie in a load of hilarious comments on why the “world” around Freeman suddenly looks that much more realistic.
I’m guessing it would either be drugs, or drugs wearing off. Head trauma is another possibility. (as a result of not wearing a helmet)
That’s not such a stupid idea when you put it like that.
Well that was the idea. Ross said he might do it for waking up after the blackout. Taking off or putting on glasses would be another good idea, if the scenes matched up well enough.
I made a video last month of scenes from the Episodes matched up with his voice, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFqYO2Hbs-Q
