Formula 1 2011. Red Bull vs McLaren Epic.

y u so mad

But really, no one is bitching, everybody was talking about future rule renditions.

Vettel was going to fall off the cliff in terms of grip within the next 2-3 laps after being on the same set of tires since lap 17 (which is frankly amazing). He couldn’t have pitted, so the strategy of Ferrari and McLaren was about to pay off.

But once they got a new set of tyres on that red bull nobody was going to catch it, regardless of whether they wanted to or not. Nothing to do with balls, it was just too fast on fresh rubber.

But you’re right, it is how racing works. We’re just debating whether they’ll change the rules in the face of an unprecedented situation

I think they won’t change a thing since red flags are pretty rare and usually during bad weather. But I concur, use this moment like a pit stop sucks big time.

So, it’s Montreal and it is raining.
Maccas are starting quite far ahead though.

I can hear the F1’s from here right now

lucky SOB

Yeah, red flag. Good luck racing in these conditions.

My street is turning into a goddamn river. It’s pretty intense.

It’s dead, they won’t restart with this shower.
But WTF with the SC start when its not raining ? Fittipaldi sucks.

Never doubt Button.

but really, I have to do this once…

BUTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
YESSSSSSSSSSSS
YES
YES

Also Massa snatching 5th…

Vetel drove amazingly, button drove like a god, Schumacher is back, lewis proved he’s too aggressive and the lower teams gained some good places!

One of the best races i have ever seen.

JENSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!

It was shaping up to be the most retarded race ever.

this btw
I’ll do a write up later.

Alonso, can suck a dick too

Canadian GP: Hiiiighwayy toooo tha Daangerzoown…

It was shaping up to be the most retarded piece of F1 racing in recent history: Hamilton being an idiot, Vettel in front as always, SC coming out 5 times, stupid fucking downpour and a long fucking Red Flag

But then…

Button : strugling for grip at the start, drivethrough penalty, 6 (!) times in the pits, getting a puncture and ending up at the end (no pun intended) of the grid after one of the stops… only to pass 20 cars in 20 laps to get to that 1st place. It’s amusing that no one could come up with the answer on where he found that pace. This, plus fragging both Hamilton and most importantly, Alonso :jizz:
His pass on Webber was the ‘holy shit’ moment of the race.

Vettel : caught napping, what else can be said. Should of try pull away earlier. It was also amazing to watch how much cleaner Button’s driving was than Vettel’s when the former was pursuing the latter during the last couple laps. It was evident on the cameras at the exits of the chicanes : Button always had a perfect trajectory, while Seb was getting wide and had his rear all over the place. No wonder button was 1.5 seconds per lap quicker.

Hamilton:

Alonso:

Frags.

Massa: He was fucking fast today. Unfortunately, made a mistake while passing a backmarker on slicks and damaged his front. But didn’t disappoint, instead owning Kobayashis ass:

Schumacher and Webber : now these two…
Webber was quick as fuck today, despite being taken out by LH (surprise!) and his RB-7 struggling for grip on wets and inters. A well deserved 3rd.
Schumacher, however, was a genius in the wet. Owning Webber, Kobayashi and Massa - and then holding the line up until the last couple laps, he had a big chance to win today, but unfortunately slowed down and gave up 3rd to the Kangaroo despite defending furiously. Nevertheless, a fucking epic drive from him.
He’s back, nigga.

Heidfeld :
Epic sledge trip after fucking up his front:

Smokin

Race: Mind = blown.

So in the end, Button goes up to 2nd in the standings with 101 points, 60 points short of Vettel’s score.
Oh and Petrov coming 5th :jizz:

I don’t agree with your analysis of Hamilton

During two and a half hours of red flag they analysed his crashes incredibly extensively. When he hit Webber he was on full lock and just understeered off the wet kerb. With the commitment he had to the corner there was nothing more he could have done. Webber could have run further before he turned in, but it looked as though he honestly didn’t know Hamilton was there. Racing incident in my opinion, first time on the tyres and extremely bad conditions

Same with Button. I don’t think either of them were in the wrong, Hamilton couldn’t have swerved over the straight in the conditions they had, and Button clearly checked his mirrors. Just didn’t see him. The drivers spoke during the break and said as much, according to Whitmarsh and Button during the press conference. Another racing incident.

McLaren were also running a wet setup, which only a couple of other teams were doing. And Vettel was on an older model of his front wing, after he smashed up his development wing in free practice on Friday. Didn’t seem to make too much difference though.

And why no mention of Kobayashi? As well as being an incredibly entertaining driver, he did well in a Sauber that’s seriously off the pace, held back a good challenge for a few laps. Same as Schumacher, good drive let down by the car

Clear highlight has to be the marshal falling over twice in the road, I think he saw the car coming and papped himself :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree. He’s fast becoming one of my favourite drivers. He puts on moves that easily rival Hamilton in a far slower car. That finish was practically a photo-finish, astonishing stuff.

I was joking around
I know that both contacts were wet racing incidents. Official sources did a good job clarifying that.
But yeah, not really that much to say about his few lap performance, except that his pace looked reasonably good and that he had 3 moments aka two contacts and getting wide at the hairpin.
This and you have to agree, he made quite a few contacts with Webber in the recent times. And by the time his Macca was taken out, the whole situation really was frustrating.

Well Vettel had no problem pulling away for the whole race. Plus, the last part
was essentially a dry race. The only moment where it made a real difference, I think, was when Button made a pass on Webber.

Totally forgot about his performance yesterday. He did a good job holding off Massa, but eventially got what was coming to him seeing how Petrov and Massa made easy work out of his dying Sauber, even if the last one was 1 fraction of a second before finish.
And the only reason why he ended up 2nd on the restart was that he did not pit, which is what he likes doing, so nothing unusual there.

I was away from screen during that moment, hah.

Petrov could’ve smacked him, he was steaming in that Renault

I put the race on a DVD…I’m saving this one for when I’m 60 and all the pussies in their F0 hovercars are complaining about the wind.
