Forget about the leeches what about the rats!!!

Just had a poke about in the BMS.fgd file and to my astonishment I came across a line that mentions a npc rat

@NPCClass base(BaseNPC) studio(“models/fauna/rat.mdl”) = npc_rat : “Rat” []

This would have been great when crawling through vents… Residue processing springs to mind because of all the brown water.

I hope this npc would not be any danger to the player but I think this could have been quite good to have some rats in the game

Forget about the rats what about the cockroaches!!

There’s already cockroaches, they’re just animated sprites though, not NPCs.

exactly which also means you can shoot them with a glock preferably

Rats dont matter. Leeches dont matter. Gordons arms dont matter. Gordons legs dont matter.
Thats all. They simply arent important. Sorry, but I just grow tired by seeing new useless topics to be made. Although it`s still just my opinion.

I agree
we should focus on something actually important, such as fixes for game breaking bugs

Yeah, but I want to walk over them and hear those cracking sound

But I want to see rats aswell, yes!

Where in HL have you seen rats anyway? I’ve seen one in the Hazard Course in the target range but that area is cut so this has tobe cut as well.

I never new there was rats in the original to be honest thats why I was shocked to see it in the fgd but I think they sound quite promising as an addition.

I have not come across 1 game breaking bug… lot’s of small problems and some big glitch outs that are solved by reloading the level apart from that the game was by and large solid.

I cant put my finger about seeing rat in HL, which I dont remember, but there were crockroaches whose could be found in some places, probably randomly generated. Just like leeches could be found in water, they gave game a speck of realism, but didnt really matter. About rats - I dunno where Ive seen them, but they were somewhere, maybe in one of HL mods. I just remember that stepping on them would squash them, in same way as stepping on crockroaches.

there where only 3 rats in half life, the rats where to be hostile to gordon but where cut, they are seen in a few areas, the hazard course and a few locations during the intro.

https://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Earth_creatures

even in hl2 was going to be rats but was cut

Well after looking at that page there is plenty of opportunities to use them… It mentioned seeing the rats with scientists… An obvious combination and would go well in QE also.

Scientists always do experiments on rats…

There is plenty of scope for these little critters

So I hope they get put in eventually… It’s a distinct possibility

Then they need to add a room with cages…

Cause no cages in a labo, no rats!

I was thinking of a lab rat on one of those wheels that they run on… in a cage like you say or the old perspex rats maze.

anyway lab rat and wild rats both would be good additions and make complete sense for imersion only but not a high priority but an interesting find anyway in the fgd

I hope we get a few extra rooms in QE

Lack of critters in HL series irks me : (

I was hoping there’d be a room in QE where the scientists tested headcrabs on humans. Oh well!

Forget about the rats, cockroaches and leeches…what about the wombats?!

Here, have all the rat you could ever need.

^Best easter egg ever.
