First source mod

OK, I’ve made a few maps and started with the modelling but the whole coding thing still confuses me.

I’ve got an idea for a mod I’ve been through the source sdk thing and actually ‘made’ it but a lot of tutorials are unhelpful/confusing/contradicting/overwhelming.

I am shocked an appalled that no one has linked him to the Valve Developer Community Wiki. That’s where I learned to mod; basically, I decided one day that I wanted to start modding, and I went to the wiki and, for several months, did nothing but read the articles. Then when I started up hammer, I already had a good understanding of how everything works.

I read the name of this thread as what is the first ever source mod?

Well, what is it?

I believe it was the “HL2 Fall” map, which I can’t find hosted on PlanetPhillip, and which I am far too lazy to look any further for.

ok. i may be a lil late but here https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SketchUp_Source_Tools

its basically a plugin guide thingy on how to make models and maps using sketchup. which is a fairly easy, though not nearly as powerful as blender… maybe you could use it to hash out quick maps or models?

I never direct newbies to the Dev Wiki, it can be a bit daunting unless you know what you’re looking for.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
