First Person Max2011 Bone Rig

I’ve gone ahead and made a very simple IK rig for BMS. It just uses the weighted mesh and all but one bone from the reference .smd. No fancy controllers here boys, just two dummies and some IK.

Have fun.

Edit: You might need to play with the Smooth modifier if you notice some smoothing errors/lack of smoothing.

Add more bones and I will goes back to animating. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, this is for animators wanting to make awesome v-model mods?

PS, love the glock animation, but please fix the run, it looks like his wrist is breaking :stuck_out_tongue:

My problem with it is that it doesn’t seem to fit the sound all that well, and the damn slide doesn’t pop back when he’s out of ammo.

It’s just a placeholder

I want to see someone try to remake the HL1 glock animations, position and everything (well maybe not the reload)

Though I already really liked the BMS glock, it would be more nostalgic seeing it closer to the middle of the screen and lower so you can see more of the top.

Awesome thanks! However is there any chance we can get it in FBX for those of use who don’t work in max?

Well man I’d open up 3ds Max and save it as a FBX file for you but sadly my copy got corrupted and I cba reinstalling atm. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish you could add on to it by doing this finishing touch… something that looks like this Glock reload… at least at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yALmciFQys

At 1:04 the pull of the slide looks cool… in otherwords… please add a pulling of the slide at the end.

Unfortunately pulling the slide doesn’t make any sense whether it looks cool or not.

The only time it would make sense is when you first pick up the weapon.

Instead of pulling the slide, you could have the hand rig do a “press check.” It’s not pulling the slide all the way back, but it lets you see if you have a round under the hammer.

how about make it unrealistic as all fuck and just make sure it looks pretty.

because unrealistic as fuck looks retarded and dumb

well duh

nope. Unrealistic is the only way something can actually look good.

It would be interesting to change the crowbar swing animation, in BM looks to like that.

hurr durr ironsights and boring textures everywhere, so realistic oh my god what now when how do I get

I’m sorry, but none of those looks good, leave alone ‘realistic’

oh how cute, he things texture work and ironsights have anything to do with reload animations  , arent you a sweatheart?? ita ok, everyone makes mistakes  .

and no, before anyone with the brainpower of a fork says it, im not auggesting realiatic reloads for black mesa, it just doesnt fit. I just said that calling an animation borig becauae is realistic its just stupid an ussualy said by the ADHD kids who cant stand 0.5 seconds without firing before crying hurrr akshun!!!

I dunno, ejecting the round in the barrel on that G3 set was a nice touch. Of course, the smart thing to do would have been to leave the round in the barrel so you can fire it at someone in an emergency during a reload if needed. I think GRAW had that ability.

As for BM’s weapons, the only real beef I have is with the MP5. The ghost ring sight at the front lacks the middle post to aim with if Gordon ever bothered to use the sights. Admittedly this is probably to maintain consistency with the model in the original HL (because it, too, lacked that post) but from a visuals standpoint it’s inconsistent and a rather perplexing omission. Both pistols have the irons intact, and the Magnum’s are usable to boot, so why not?

Also, when reloading, the bolt closes by itself. I would have rigged the hand to do an ‘HK Slap’ on the bolt to synch up with that. I’m guessing the self closing bolt is probably a result of an animation like that being cut because it wasn’t fast enough, much like the reload for the M203.
