The tranquilizer gun that you need to get rid of the Ichthyosaur and is located in a shark cage crashes my game every time I try to fire it.

Does it show an error or anything? Also please post your system specs (CPU, GPU, and OS).
It only says hl2.exe stopped working.

Your specs are plenty good enough to run Black Mesa, but there are a few things I would try.
See if adding “-dxlevel 90” into the launch options (without quotes) works.
Doesn’t help, it still crashes.
PS: In the meantime I found out the game also crashes if I try to use the RPG or Grenade Launcher …
Okay, by making an effort to get r_drawviewmodel 1 to work, the crash problem got fixed along the way.
