Fallout 4

I’ve heard that exact same theory several times over in various places.

I actually love the idea, because it gets you emotionally invested in the character 'cause they’re presented, at the start, with a vastly more relatable perspective.

ooh here’s a twist: The player character at the end of the game is revealed to be an android with the consciousness of the person who entered the vault at the beginning of the game inside of it.

That actually sounds pretty cool. I hope the apocalypse is after events of F03/NV so three dog can be in it, but with the premise that he was one of the pre-war citizens.

methinks he is the infant being carried

?(

Yeah, I agree on the theory that we start by sealing ourselves in Vault 111. They wouldn’t have made an intact pre-war world with all kinds of NPCs unless they were going to use them. So either it factors into the intro, or there’s another Tranquility Lane scenario here.

Plus, the intro was a big difference between Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Fallout 3 had a tutorial cleverly disguised as growing up inside the Vault, and the original ending comes full circle back to something that happens there, which is a wonderful bit of bookending. New Vegas kind of dumps you right into things, using most of its intro movie to tell you about your character, rather than you playing it yourself. Not that you want to kill Benny any less once you see him, but the game does get off to a rather sleepy start.

I can appreciate that Bethesda and Obsidian have two different takes on this franchise. I personally believe that each approach has pros and cons. I feel Fallout 3 did a much better job establishing memorable locations and characters. There are some real standout quests, like the aforementioned Tranquility Lane. But on the other hand, I preferred New Vegas’ moral gray area. Too often, I felt I’d do good things in Fallout 3 because I wanted to stay on the good track instead of what I would have personally done, not unlike Mass Effect. In New Vegas, with the exception of Caesar’s Legion, everyone’s got an ulterior motive and choices aren’t black-or-white. No matter what you choose, you’re going to tick off somebody. But that means you’re more free to make the choices YOU want to make and deal with the ramifications YOU own. Perhaps consequently, though, you feel like you have a lot of responsibility in New Vegas. Coupled with the fact that the world itself is genuinely more hostile everywhere you go, and there are times when I feel the game forgets to ease off the seriousness and remember its fun, satirical side.

Lol no idea wtf happened there.

Finishing what I thought: The infant in the trailer of the pre-war visions was put into some hypersleep chamber like those found in vault 12 and woke up X amount of years later

Gonna have to disagree with you there.

I just got around to watching the trailer. The graphics are better, but I can’t help but feel that it looks pretty much like Fallout 3. I know it’s the same universe, but that doesn’t mean these game worlds can’t have some regional variations.

I was told today that the beginning of the game is supposed to start pre-war. I haven’t found a reliable source yet (haven’t totally started searching either).

On the topic of fallout, does anybody play the tale of two wastelands mod for new vegas? (for those who don’t know, it allows you to play fallout 3 in new vegas

A weapon crafting system on par with Dead Space 3.

Building and running and defending your own town.

Awesome power armor.

I may be in love.

I have the biggest fanboy boner atm.

Looks like the skill system might be changed significantly:

• Lack of a Skill tab in the Pip-Boy
• No mention of skill points in description of the Intelligence attribute
• “Req: Rank 2 Science!” requirement in the weapon crafting section
“Perk chart”

“[Mods] will be able to be transferred, played and shared for free on Xbox One”

EDIT:

Mods on PS4 possibly coming later:

The LGBT community are all torches and pitchforks over the Player start. lol

pfft. Who’s to say you can’t choose a relationship later in the game and have it be homosexual? I don’t think any of the fallouts had a real relationship component for your character anyways, I’m pretty certain this is just a creative feature they added for the beginning to make sense.

Yeah, how dare Bethesda force a disgusting cis-gendered relationship on my unrealistic and stereotypically 50’s retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic open-world RPG?

They’ll get mad if anything features a straight relationship just like how the catholic church gets pissy when shit features a gay relationship. Honestly, both sides need to get over themselves, it’s just a freakin game

This shit is gonna be more awesome everyone:

So… the game comes out in a week.
Anyone getting it on release?

It’s a bethesda game, Day 1 releases are known to be buggy as hell. I’m waiting for a couple weeks, plus reviews. I never have been one to pre-order anyway.
