Sounds right for Combine.
Imagine reading these acronyms with the sound of the BM VOX
“Bitches-Licking-Alien-Cocks-to-Kill-Military”

uh, what
He worded it badly.
What he meant was, Combine Soldiers are more fodder than actual trained soldiers.
That’s kind of the idea though. Combine synths and vehicles are the main fighting elements of their army, while the troops seem more like expendables.
Not to mention a lot of them would have been kids during the Seven Hour War, and probably don’t have all that much training or experience.
Combat experience gets injected right into their brain.
In HL2… When was the Suppression Field established? In other words… what was age of the youngest person on earth in HL2.
lol, Children of Men
They should have made a Human Synth Soldier to match up with the rest of the Combine Army.
Right after the Combine conquered the earth, about 20 years ago I think. Alyx is the youngest person in Half-Life 2.
I don’t know, some of those rebels look pretty young too.
Possibly, but we don’t know that.
And the suppression field was obviously turned on around or shortly after the invasion, as we don’t see any children or adolescents.
I assume that they go through VR combat training during their transhuman modification process. Or something.
Maybe during memory replacements and stuff. Replace memory with combat information or something.
Now that you are talking about replacing memory and stuff, I wonder if the Combine soldiers have any emotions left. I mean when they’re not in combat could they still joke with each other, talk about things, etc? I do remember in the game when you throw a grenade in a sniper’s nest they yell ‘SHIT!’.
They have some, though I don’t think they joke or anything. I’d imagine they act like professional soldiers at all times. Emotions like sadness and remorse are probably suppressed to make them more merciless and effective, while emotions like fear and moral (does moral count as an emotion?) are still prevalent.
I would be very happy if the AI was indeed comparable to the AI from the original F.E.A.R.
All of this could be accomplished with a system similar to Alyx’s zombie melees in Episode 1: If the table and the soldier are both in the right positions, and it makes sense for them to kick the table over, a short animated sequence between the two gets triggered. Same deal with diving and ducking. Doesn’t seem like too big a deal, aside from the work of creating the extra animations. Will it be in Black Mesa? If you don’t know the answer to that, you have no business being here.
Except you don’t animate physics props.
I guess you could create a physics force behind the table or something, but that’s probably more effort than the devs will put in for that kind of thing at this point.
Everything is comparable…
The moon is comparable to an orange because they are both round. :3
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
