In response to the OP; I think that the standard Combine AI does detect flashlights, so I think that will be in BM as well.

Also, from my experience, most of the cool stuff the enemies in F.A.I.L was scripted, and though they spotted flashlights and used ladders, they also ran straight at me and pratically sucked off my shotgun barrel.

I would like to see Black Mesa soldiers have the ability to flip tables for cover. I have ways of building prototypes of that, but to get it to work in Source would require a scripted event. Not sure if there is an animation for it, but perhaps the melee kick would work. However, there is no way in hell the soldiers will be able to dive through windows and crawl under drainpipes like the Replica Soliders do in F.E.A.R.

Even so, the soldiers going “DIE MOTHERFUCKER” would be quite fun…

What I love of the replica soldier is that they will try to save their lives instead of: HEY LOOK IT’S FREEMAN LET’S RUN INTO HIS TRAP OF MINES!! I loved how Sven coop team made better A.I. for the HECU, if ya throw the satchels to them, they will run out of there.

Also when ya killed a HECU it’s teammates went to it’s dead body if they didn’t see you so I think instead to go check what has killed it’s teammate they should go and search a cover while looking with the head WTF is going on out there.

They did. In the Hospital when they saw you come around the corner, one flipped a table over while the other tossed a grenade at you.

It was scripted though.

I hope the AI will be updated if possible. The way of fighting Combines in Half-Life 2 rather reminded me of some interdimensional alien holocaust rather than fighting an hightech army.
