suggestion to implement ladder climbing script and flashlight detection script=thread full of people talking about fear
If you’d actually read the thread you’d see it’s mainly about HECU AI in general.
and the thread name is a suggestion to TRANSFORM the hl HECU A.I. in a more like F.E.A.R. A.I.
Don’t be silly. He doesn’t bother reading things, or replying when he knows he’s been shown-up.
I’m saying what the thread IS about, not what it’s meant to. Look in the Massdebating Hall at the Ask a Muslim thread turning into an evolution discussion.
Well we are talking about AI and F.E.A.R. so…

Edit:
In Scandinavia Norway: This is what it says!
Nope
The one with ladders is possible, but then you have to make a new option for the info_node_hint. This might sound easy, but it is not… oh, I just forgot, the info_node_climb! Then the HECU just need to be a climbing npc!
Also: I haven’t done any AI scripting so I don’t know how easy/hard it is to make a new info_node_hint option or to make a npc climbing.
hehe they could use the fast zombie climbing animation and then you could see HECUs jumping at you while screaming zombie sounds
:aah:
I envision a Source engine game or mod where enemies and friendly NPCs use the actbusy system extensively to create a great deal of immersion by having them dynamically carry out their own patrols, lives, and conversations with each other, instead of just waiting for an enemy to come by.
But BM is a HL remake, there’s no room for stylistic error and no time to implement that.
Isn’t that kinda stuff described on the website, though?
… I don’t mean better AI or tactics. I mean say, the NPCs in STALKER: Call of Pripyat; they don’t just wait for the player to show up, they walk around, sit down, etc.
As Christopher Livingston put it;
That’s what I mean, not using the actbusy system for cover.
I always loved how Call of Pripyat felt like a full on world simulation, with people doing what they want without you there. I remember talking to a lone stalker on Skadovsk, and tried to trade him for an F2000 he had. I didn’t have enough cash on me at the time. But the next day I found him dead amongst a pile of mutant bodies. Scavenged his gun without a second thought.
Half Life however, is a linear game built upon scripted sequences. Having things happen without the player there doesn’t work for a game like that.
Excuse me, sir. How much is that game? Sounds like sex.

Some locations in that game creep the fuck outta me. But it is quite good, I must say.
Well, tell me one thing. Do the devs make their own a.i. or they copy it from hl2/episodes (read: make hl2/episodes-like)? If yes, then playing BMS will be very and very boring. Just remember hecu soldiers from original HL and you’ll get what I’m about.
Lurk some more. Chances are you’re find the answer and then some and thus will avoid flaming for asking stupid questions that have been answered hundreds of times already.
