Everything Gets Really Dark

So, in some areas of the game (particularly in darker areas) the games gets way too dark. Flashlight won’t even do anything to help. It isn’t my monitor brightness, because when I first load an a new area it will be normal brightness, then gradually fade to almost unseeable black. Here’s a before/after shot of what I mean.

I think it has something to do with the HDR lighting, but I honestly have no clue.

If you think it’s the HDR, try turning it off in the options menu and see if there is a difference?

And what’s your brightness settings in the game set to? Are they normal?

Try adjusting your gamma in the “brightness settings”. I don’t think that’ll fix the problem, but if it changes the results it’ll help us diagnose it.

nothing in the menu that I can see will let me turn HDR off. Gamma is turned all the way up in the brightness settings, and when I go to advanced video settings the High Dynamic Range is set to “Full (if available)” and has no other option to switch to.

bump for stop ignoring me

You may need to Verify the integrity of your Game Cache. Right click Black Mesa, Click Properties, then click “Verify Integrity of Game files.” Let it do its thing, and download anything missing/corrupted.

Have you entered any console commands, if so what ones.

Have you entered anything in the Launch Options.

Some laptops have an auto-dimming feature https://lifehacker.com/disable-windows-annoying-adaptive-brightness-feature-on-1567886994

Post your system specs, cpu, os , ram, gpu etc…

Does it happen on the multiplayer maps too?
