Elevator crash in Unforeseen Consequences

Does anyone feel bad for the people who fall down the elevator in Unforeseen Consequences now? Title cut-off. > :frowning:

The people in the elevator actually sound scared for their lives, unlike Half-Life 1 where they just do these emotionless screams when falling. I really love how they put more emotional depth into the characters.

Especially as it’s you who pushes the button so they fall?

It give the game a more personal feeling…

no, not really. but it’s not as funny as it was in the original.

I was horrified and extremely sad when I heard the scream of a man and cry of a woman…
They were fighting for their lives, but I knew that they won’t survive, and they realized it too. To say that I felt bad is not to say anything… I felt devastated at that moment…

No reason to feel bad, they would have died anyway.

It’s not about the outcome, it’s about how it was arranged and played out.
I knew they will die, but it was made in such a way that it was really sad for me…

I thought the voices during the elevator crash were taken straight from a movie. Someone please tell me I’m wrong.

Hearing that panicked ā€œOh, shit! Help uuuus!ā€ after pushing the button took the hilarity out of the original. As with everything else it was much more intense in Black Mesa, and actually felt a little bad for causing the incident. But the callback to that incident a little bit later on by the PA system added the hilarity back in.
Now when I play I go out of my way to bring a small heavy prop with me so I can toss it through the window and crawl through instead of pushing the button, sending them to their maker.

But come the hell on, they couldn’t jump off and fall 20 feet to the platform instead of 100 to their deaths?

I actually went back and found a chair to break the glass with so I didn’t have to be at fault for their deaths!

Don’t feel sad I’ve got a solution for you:

Actually you can forgo the chair. Just climb up the ladder to the level change trigger BEFORE the elevator crashes and you get the same thing.

But the elevator has to crash to open the windows…

Well obviously you need to break the glass with something. I was just trying to say that jamming the elevator (while being awesome) is not necessary to trigger the glitch.

Ah, okay forgive my stupidity, then.
Y’know… the simple fact that you can do this adds the hilarity right back in.

It does sound like something from a final destination movie or something, only it’s actually scary.

That’s pretty awesome.

I like the new dialogue here but kinda missed the silly ā€œAHHHHHHHHH! Hello Gordon.ā€ as they fall in HL1.

Jajaja, that was amazing!
Especially the scientist’s line: ā€œĀæAny idea what to do next?ā€, jajaja

Thank you!

I’m glad that has cheered you up!

Never underestimate the physics of the source engine!

I knew it was coming. The only thing I thought about that moment was picking up the power cell that used to spawn in the debris field…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
