I understand this game is still in early access… However if I pay for it now to start playing, will I receive updates and more importantly the full release when it comes out?
Or would I need to re-purchase when the full release is done?

Once you purchase it, all upcoming patches, including Surface Tension: Uncut and Xen Update, will be free.
You don’t need to repurchase. The game is yours if you buy early access, including all of our future free updates (like STU and Xen).
You will take updates for free
