Dota 2 Client Leaked - Ep3 Code Included?

This thread is so retarded it should be moved to the Half-Life section.

This. Ice gun sounds pretty cool if it’s implemented well.

Here’s an exclusive video of Gordon Freeman in HL2: E3.

Yeah. I have ‘-novid’ in launch options, so I never see any of the intros anymore.

imo, HL1 went to a point where there were too many fucking weapons. whacky Saturday morning cartoon weapons, a number of them quite unneccesary and stupid.

HL2 was more conservative, every weapon had a purpose, every challenge was balanced between them. if HL3 has an ice gun or flamethrower or what have you, it better be consistently useful.

in any case, valve knows what they’re doing, and that code is quite probably experimental…

I didn’t realize there was already a thread on this when I created one in the Half-Life section.

Don’t worry, it probably won’t. Half-Life 2: Episode 3 on the other hand will. :retard:

why are you going to such great lengths to pester me? i don’t understand you to be a troll…

Grow up. Everybody is a troll.

For some reason I seldom skip it.

Whoa there Fong, careful with how you use those expensive words.

Oh, Fong’s English has grown up so fast. :’(

Why do you insist on being wrong? (And it’s really no effort at all)

I don’t try to troll.

There’s been a ton of baseless speculation as to valve skipping to HL3 that in my mind never had any reasoning behind it other than; development has taken a long time, so the game must be longer & once it gets past some arbitrary, ill-defined length it suddenly becomes a full title. Every time there’s an interview with someone at Valve, they’ve referred to it as Episode 3. Every time there’s a leak of information, the files refer to it as being called EP3.

I just want to know why there are still people who cling so desperately on to the idea HL3 being the next in the series when all the hard evidence shows otherwise?

Because people.

What I don’t understand is why people care at all what it’s called. It could be called Half Life 27: Gordon Freeman’s Magical Ass-Punching Adventure Game of Bad Guys from Science and everyone would still play it.

Marketing. The name sells. Look at Call of Duty. Black Ops sucks, but it sells very well. Half Life 3 would sell better than Episode 3. You need to think like a company, not like a fan.

mfw “Half-Life 2: Episode 3” and “Half-Life 3” both half “Half-Life” in the title

Honestly, I think it’ll sell the same no matter what the hell you call it. It’s a Valve game from a series that the majority of homo sapiens love playing. So, as was stated by Orpheon, it would sell no matter what the hell they called it.

After you got the revolver the glock became useless.

The AR2 was useless in general.

There was never a moment where I felt I actually NEEDED the Xbow.

The grenades? Forget about it. Before the turrets in the citadel came in I never even glanced at em. Always used SMG nades on snipers.

There’s so much ‘meh’ about the HL2 guns. Not just their boringness as tools to use, but how useful they are all at given moments.

Not like HL1 did it any better, though there was at least a clearer designation between weapon specialties. The underwater enemies (well, the two) meant the Xbow and glock could actually get some use, the constant CQC combat made the shotty essential, and the frequent mobs of enemies made the MP5 feel like it needed to be there too. The hivehand not so much. Felt kinda "why the fuck am I using this slow-ass thing when I have a GUN?). Snarks just felt like they’re there for lulz and that’s just what I use em for. can’t say much for the RL, as I only really needed it for a few choice moments. HL2 did use explosives much better.

If you ask me, the HL arsenal needs some MAJOR retooling if there hasn’t been some effort put into it already. The existence of these “icegun”, “flamethrower”, and “weaponizer” references could mean they HAVE been giving it some thought. I welcome all change with open arms regarding HL’s weapons.

To be honest most of the flaws about the weapons in Half-Life are only really noticeable if you have played the game several times.

If I could play the HL games only using the spas-12, I would. That weapon is God in the HL universe.

Whoa. WHOA. Slow down there. AR2 is the best, and if you think otherwise you’re wrong. Crossbow wasn’t necessary but very appreciated. It was the only longrange gun you had.

HL2 weapons all had a point and served different purposes, even the pistol. It just became useless after you got a better upgrade.
