Door not opening - and aheyfromhome bugthread

I guess I’ll add bugs to this thread when I come across them rather than making a new one each time; but firstly;

The door at the bottom of the elevator on the way down to the test chamber does not open. I’ve tried pressung Use, and reloading the save file, but nothing.
FYI: Once the lift landed, I actually immediately went over to the ladder on the right and explored that, rather than trying to go through the door.
Now the door won’t open, the lift is unresponsive, so I can’t actually go anywhere. I’m just about to no-clip my way out.

EDIT: Ooo err. I just noclipped through the door and it appears that actually the next map hasn’t loaded, judging by the heavenly-white expanse around the next corner.

EDIT2: I just loaded a save before I got my HEV suit and replayed: this time, when the lift landed the new map loaded and the door opened as expected. For some reason the map didn’t load the first time. I’m playing on…

Houndeyes aren’t getting eaten by barnacles (or interacting with their tongues).
After I met the first houndeye, I decided to be clever and run back though the barnacles so that it gets eaten. However it just ran through the tongues as if they weren’t there.
If the houndeye were to stay away from the barnacles then that would have been natural behaviour; if the tongues were to slide off it then that could have been evolution; but a complete lack of interaction isn’t right within the game, so I think this just hasn’t been looked at yet.

I just looked at the dev console, and I’m getting mass-repeating lines of the following:
Cannot update control point 1 for effect ‘flashlight_firstperson’.

I nearly lost the status and getpos replies off the top of the dev console by the time I typed disconnect. Rather odd getpes response too.

I’ve just reloaded the save game and the flashlight notes have stopped, but I am getting a line of the following every ~4 seconds:

The secuity guard just opened a door which was previously locked and which I hadn’t opened to let him through.
After going through to the “bonus” are at the start of Office Complex and recruiting the security guard, I went back to the main area with him. With a few lines of interaction (very good) i had to go up the vent and fall through the ceiling ibefore opening the double doors so what he could follow. He came through and said a line about “tearing sh-t up”.
I then smashed through the window to get into the room with the houndeye, killed it, turned around, and the guy opened the previously unopenable door and said the same line. Then I was all “WTF dude, I just went through a vent full of headcrabs when you could have just opened that damn door!” lol

I just crowbarred my first drinks machine, and all the cans rainbowed out of the slot and occupied in the same spot. on the floor. It looked pretty, put un-immersive.
I know that collision detection would be wasted expense, so maybe it would be an improvement just to have a script where they spread about on the floor a bit more realistically.

Zombie spawned infront of me as I went thorugh a door.
I cleared the area of the initial monsters, and then when I went to the sidedoor to explore, the zombie there actually spawned a smidge too late and I saw it appear infront of me. It wasn’t ridulously late, but i noticed it.

Kicked to the back of the tram at the incline at the start of On A Rail.
At the bottom of the first slope, the tram angled up and kept moving but I stayed still and slid to the back of the tram. This caused a bit of panic and I pressed buttons until I think I fell of the back of the tram and the autobrake engaged. Because I assumed I’d lost control of the tram by being too far away from the control panel, I have no idea whether I actually did lose control, but my button pressing didn’t seem to do anything. It wasn’t a nice experience anyway!

I can’t shoot though the guardrail at the rear of the railtruck in my screenshot.
It looks like just a few posts and a chain but when I ducked behind it and tried to shoot the guy on the turret, it turned out to be a metal sheet which bullets could not penetrate! One or the other please, chaps.

The tram is immovable and making the sound of movement, and still has the green light on even after I’ve wandered away from it.
Presumably this is related to the door being there. I originally hopped of the tram as it was nearing the door. I can’t remember if it has stopped by itself before then, but I got back on it and tried to move forward again, and it travelled another half-a-foot towards the door before stopping.
I can get on and press E so that it makes the taking-control sound, but pressing either forwards or backwards just makes the sound it makes when it stops. I can assure you that the clickety-clack sound of movement is playing and it seems to be coming from the tram.

I literally cannot move from this spot, and I can’t reach the control panel to move the tram.
Just after the map loaded, I tried to stop and reverse the tram in order to checkout the door which I’d just passed ad the bend in the track. At first I think I moved but I wasnt in control the tram, so i took control and stopped it, found I couldn’t get it into reverse, turned around in order to see if I could get of the tram, found that I was stuck, and then realised that I couldn’t reach the console in order to take control of the tram again.

This vortigaunt has just spawned, and it is completely ignoring me. How rude!

This Vort isn’t trying to kill me at all. (So I killed it the the dartgun).
I then strafed to the right and the Vort to the left of it had a pop at me (but didn’t come after me). Maybe the original Vort has an issue with the reel next to it?

IMO, assasins are far too accurate.
I mean, I know they’re trained but I was getting popped off by a guy next to the very-far door in the screenshot, which I was peaking out from cover behind the metal boxes. It was very hard to run out and break from cover because someone would very quickly just nail me and kill me before I had chance to do anything. Eventually I fluked a health recharge and a few grenade-kills (including when 2 assasins stood next to each other). This is the hardest that Half-life has ever been for me, but more in a lucky way than skill! lol

General comment.

Allies are too impatient. The “we should probably get a move on” comments come too soon.
I noticed it in Office Complex and now in Questionable Ethics; when I’m looking around an area, even while physically moving around, the ally will make a comment after an extremely short amount of time about being lost or that we should get going. It’s actually a bit annoying. Needs to take at least 2 or 3 times longer IMO.

Ichthyosaur corpses don’t blow up when hit with a tau-charge. I think this is probably related to other un-interactive corpse issues (which I gather from some other threads). but I tried to blow up the Ichthyosaurs at the dam, and the beam only seemed to slightly nudge the apparently-anaesthetised monsters rather them explode them as I was expecting. I’ll be honest, I was going for the achievement

I think the tank needs be a bit more measured in it’s firing.
Just went through the fight at the top of the cliff-climb in surface tension. I started off at the hatch in the bottom-right corner of the screenshot. I put my head up and killed a few, and then the tank rolled in. Before it even moved it’s barrel, it shot and killed about 3 guys who were on the bridge (lol!). It seemed that throughout the fight I could hear it firing continuously, even when I was below ground. It’s fun and kills a few people for you, but it’s a little crazy.

Unrelated to this bug but this image also relates a different one that happened to me once as well - look at the Tau Cannon’s tube. I have no idea what causes it, and I think a map (re)load fixed it but I’m not sure.

I killed the two soldiers using the Hivehand before reaching the foot of these stairs, then somehow as I approached them a flaming barrel starting rolling down somehow…
I know it’s supposed to happen, but the point is that both of the soldiers were dead, so maybe it should have either triggered when the last soldier died, or not triggered at all?

General comment.
I think there should be a delay between the player dying, and a key-press resulting in the last save being loaded.
I’m currently getting creamed by second batch of assassins, and often the only way that I know I’m dead is when the “Loading” message appears. I figure I must have died and hit a key before I even started fallng over.

The guard in the mainenence area took far too long to start talking.
I went around the corner, he walked over to the wall on the right, a stared at him, I looked at the shotgun on the crate, looked back at him, and THEN he opens his mouth to greet me. Bit too long.
