Doom IV

I have to disagree with you there, I felt like the Doom 3 caco looked too similar to the duke nukem 3d Octabrain:

They don’t have the exact same shape, but they share a similar color palette and the fact that the D3 caco has a brain showing and something hanging down from its main body makes me think ID took some “inspiration” from 3DR.

I thought the revenants and the mancubuses were pretty faithful though. The pinkies, I kind of liked but i feel like they should have been a different monster (maybe a higher tier pinky) because they differed too much.

Also, a bit off topic but anyone seen this?

Hey! Don’t leech images!

I’m going to just gonna say this. I feel like Doom 3 gets way worse a reputation than it deserves. Sure when you compare it to the original it has lots of faults but in that area it was stuck between a rock and a hard place. What was it going to do rehash the old overly simple run and gun game play? People would have bitched about that “Oh this game is so dated and its just lazy”. I think Doom 3 was a good attempt at trying to redirect the series for modern game design, it just turned out its not the direction fans wanted.

Doom 3 as its own game is fine other than the stupid ass flashlight thing.

I will say that the devs were smart with Doom 3. They realized that Doom is outdated and simplistic, and tried to innovate, and as far as I’m concerned, made a far better product than the original. Which is not to say I loved Doom 3, but it was okay.

Actually, despite it being a horror game, I don’t think it was as much a new direction as people think. Yes, it has way slower paced moments, but when it comes down to it, the combat is extremely similar to doom 1/2. Many of the situations encourage you to run and gun, and it feels very much like the old games.

In fact i do recall a lot of reviews criticized the game for its “dated” gameplay. I used to be one of the people who absolutely despised doom 3, but after playing the game through again in Coop, I started to see how similar to the old ones It actually was. It may not have been similar in looks, but certainly in feel.

Oh and the flashlight was piss poor.

i mainly hope it will be more like doom I/II and it will support open gl 4.0/dx11!

Doom had a feel and look that Doom III broke is all.

That’s the main reason I don’t like DIII much. Other than the storyline and name, there was NO indicator that it was part of the same IP.

Hornless Imp is a dickless imp.
Lost soul with skin is no soul at all.
Cacodemon was just a huge clusterfuck visually.
Hellkight was cool admittedly.

hay guise lets not forget about that awesome doom movie right?

Which is better than the original Doom, in which the entire game was a huge clusterfuck visually.
