dod_snow_fight_arena

https://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/138440

A winter remake of the popular dod_orange_fight_arena by yahan. Here is the new stuff!:

-Added a basic spawn protection
-HDR
-New, more fitting textures
-Middle flag requires 2 players
-Added more cover here, and there
-Added cover for Allied 2nd flag
-Flag printnames in English, not German
-Snow
-Soundscape
-Tweaked skybox
-New light

If you encounter the problem that the snow has pink and black checkers in it, open the console, type in “buildcubemaps” and restart the game.
A map made for fun and the looks. Map build time: About 6 hours.

Contact me if you have any trouble or bug reports. Oh and one more thing: If you own a server, would you be so kind to put this map in the server list? I would gladly see if the players like it!

Do you guys like it?

Does anyone play DoD any more?

But it looks like a cool orange to textured/propped map i guess.

You do know this is Day of Defeat: Source right?

It’s pretty ugly ,do real maps, not orange ones…

Please look at the map. You must be colorblind to think that is orange.
Atleast tell me what to improve, and dont be a troll.

You’ve got that far, why not give all of it proper textures?

Because it is supposed to be like that. That was the intention from the start.

orange because it’s called orange mapping what you did

You can use Flash And Make the Symbol of Orange and put it in to Your MAP.You can get the Perfect picture of the Orange Through the Flash.

Wha…?

this is not a real map, real maps look something like this

not like this

that’s not a battlefield, that’s not even a map, it’s just a cluster of corners, cover and sniping position. just because it has a .bsp and a few spawn points doesn’t mean it’s a map, it’s horror, and everyday more and more people make these horrors instead of spending quality 50 hours making a map that’s going to be played and enjoyed.

googling “World war 2 towns” takes about 5 minutes, including saving photos to your computer
making a basic design on paper or photoshop can take up to 10 hours
in the meantime you’re assembling something that looks like a map
getting response from the community takes even more time
finally texturing and applying proper models to the map, making displacements and optimizing takes about 10 more hours
and another wave of bug fixes, exploits etc. takes even more

all that time spent is rewarded with a perfectly made map, and even (if valve turns it’s eyes towards dod :s again) included in some of the future updates

but no lets make a “map” post it and reject any criticism you received, and even in this case, stuff like this is also criticism

so yeah. Make real maps, not orange/white stuff with random props

Dude, my intention was never to make a realistic map. Do it yourself

I can’t help but notice the “New, more fitting textures” bit… Boy, standard dev textures are not new, and they sure as hell don’t fit a WW2-based FPS.

Not sure what you were expecting from this thread, but posting a copy of an existing map with zero effort put into it won’t get you a lot of love. Evidence above.

Then your skills will never grow and mature and you will only ever release shitty developer texture maps that a lot of the new mappers release with just corners and long sightlines.

Got a job at WW1: Source. If thats not a mod with realistic maps…

Then why make the crud that is the map in the OP?

I’ve seen better.

and oh, “hiding” yourself behind a developer team doesn’t credit you too much, show us a map that you made, so I might even believe you

Wow, this is starting to get inmature. Alot of the people on this forum isnt even trying to help. And I did this map for fun. It wasnt supposed to be any serious.

Savant: I did make that map, look at the bottom left corner of the pic. Also, check the forums.

totally not süggesting what to fix

I am pretty much done here in this thread.

That not the point, you dont understand. I didnt meant in this topic, ALL OVER THE FORUM. There are guys who dont get help. Instead the forum is full of trollers. This is actually the last nicest forum i have been on.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
