Dias Mansion - Price & Practicality Be Damned

Recently I started coming up with ideas for designing a house out of boredom. Since it was something I knew I’d never actually build, so I started making it bigger & adding more & more over-the-top expensive, impractical stuff to it. Sadly I’ve pretty much run out of junk to add to it asside from currently-impossible technology like teleporters & room-specific gravity control. I was thinking that if I do ever finish designing it I could make it a playable multiplayer map in hammer just for the hell of it. Although it seems I keep starting over from scratch any time I add a lot of things so it might never get done.

Some of the things I might add:

  • lazy river moat
  • inset porch behind drawbridge
  • intercom system
  • sauna
  • guest bedrooms
  • movie theatre
  • fallout shelter
  • no library, but a server room
  • rooftop terrace
  • balconies
  • castle-style battlements
  • helicopter landing pad
  • hot tubs in the bathrooms
  • olympic-sized swimming pool outdoor/indoor convertable with a retractable awning & curtian walls
  • automated double pocket doors with movement prediction
  • elevators & escalators instead of stairs
  • waterfall connects from roof to pool or moat
  • electrochromic smart windows
  • hydronic radiant underfloor heating
  • moving walkways

I’d love to hear some more ideas for things to add, althought I’d like to keep the house/castle/mansion/thing somewhat realistic structurally. Fictional things like portals could be added so long as they aren’t there solely to access otherwise inaccessable areas.

Super awesome water slide that goes from top of house in to pool.

Does this also include the outside? If so, private baseball fields, soccer/futbol, tennis courts, and a golf course. Also an indoor bowling alley.

Angry dome.

Outside is fine too, although there’s obviously going to be a bit of a size restriction, especially if it make it into a playable map. It could also be surrounded by whatever; beach, desert, grassland, mountain, cliffs. It doesn’t really matter that much so long as the building has a physical thing to rest on.

Towers to The Showers

Best IMO.

I agree with this.

Dreaming of those oh so abscent billions are we? hehe…me too. I’d add a racetrack on that and a fullblown multimillion dollar music studio with all the trimmings

Do you mean a rock-climbing walls that lead to shower stalls? O_o

Id add them

A bed-room. Litterally, a bed-room.

As in, the floor is one giant matress mass, five layers deep, liberally layered with memoryfoam and sprinkled with pillows and featherticks.

Difficult to map, but undecidedly awesome.

A fuck room, because fuck

A fuck room? Is that where I store all the fucks I don’t give?

A Bowser room
because fuck you, thats why.

A giant trampoline room.

Or, even better, make all the floors trampolines.

A kitchen.

Dunno if it’s possible with the entities in Source, but you should chuck in an Anechoic chamber. That would make for some interesting ambushes in deathmatch.

I have no idea how to create such a thing in source & I don’t think it would have the effect you might be thinking because I don’t really see how it would affect ambushes.

I meant only that it would be disorienting to be shot at without hearing anything.

Those chambers only mute echoes of sounds, it doesn’t nullify sound entirely.
