It’s not entirely new news, but it does clearly say that we won’t have to infer the mod release date from the the soundtrack release date. It will be announced earlier

I know I’d love to make a Black Mesa trailer with SFM, but only when I’m sure that I can’t contribute to any area of development - certainly don’t want to hold up release for that sake.
Of course, I feel like getting everything working there would require a lot of copying/pasting assets into the right directories, and then figuring out why X isn’t working…

Maybe my trailer will just be the Heavy calling the Scout over and saying “Look! Black Mesa is released!” in poor sentence-mixing.

Nothing was cancelled as a result of “community backlash”. Our plans have changed recently, but those changes had nothing to do with people complaining about Facebook or Twitter, or us releasing screenshots instead of the game. We’re not reading too much into any negativity that may have been generated, and we’re not giving up because someone on the internet said something mean about us. I think there’s just been a miscommunication somewhere at some point.

No official response to Steam or related Greenlight. Xen will come after the rest of the campaign, but will be larger and more of its own world than just a short epilogue stage. It is likely that DM will be released with Xen, but not absolutely sure.

Xen will not take 8 years.

I’m pretty sure DM will be released after Xen, since it wouldn’t make much sense for them to work on DM and Xen at the same time (last I heard the entire team has input into Xen).

It will be in the form of an update that adds the Xen chapters to Black Mesa. It will make the transition from Lambda Core to Xen seamless.
