I’ve got a vaguely intelligent daydream suggestion this time - antlions on Xen. Not necessarily as an enemy you fight but maybe buzzing around in the distance. I’m pretty sure this might have been suggested before, but was shot down, so it sort of fits this thread, I think.

I was under the impression that you could do that anyway.
I think that it would be cool, but the tongue wouldnt just be floating horizontally, it would need to be across the floor, and when you step on it, you fall over and start getting dragged across the floor.
Which also allows the creators to add in a little scene where a scientist is like “Freeman! follow me!” only to be dragged into a side barnacle with fantastic amounts of blood and screaming.
