Day Dream suggestion thread

It’s a bit more disappointing in Rage because the actual hit reaction behavior is so fucking extraordinary.

I’ve seen ragdoll blending in source… Only used for characters who are on fire. It looked like shit.

I’m not saying that it COULDN’T be made to work in source, but it might be possible that it would be very difficult.

What I would want to see is a ragdoll that started stiff and springy on death and then after about a second or half a second it goes to full fluidity like default.

That way it could balance a bit if you get a clear headshot then collapse on the floor.

I liked the death animations/ragdolls in Red Dead Redemption a lot.

Yeah, but that’s euphoria.

And unless you’re Lucasarts or have 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 dollars to throw at em, there’s no way you’re getting it integrated into your game.

Yeah, euphoria is pretty much THE physics system for realism but as xalener said, it’s pricy and no doubt complicated to implement.

What about Left 4 Deads death animation / ragdoll blending? I think it looks pretty damn impressive.

I agree, L4D’s animation system is an amazing alternative.

One thing I’d like to see but wouldn’t dream of seeing in the mod is having hgrunts being able to hang onto moving vehicles. Sequences in 24 where the CTU tac-teams hang off the sideskirts of their black SUVs could be an impressive way to rapidly deploy a team to an area.

Man, that would be one hell of a scary ass ride.

How about in the scene where Gordon is knocked out, and dumped in a garbage crusher, instead of the lights going out, you are able to see the HECUs hit you with the back of their guns and it fades out as you pass out (like in F.E.A.R)

I like the idea that they turn the lights out and then attack you in the dark.

I always wondered… HOW DO THEY SEE IN THE DARK THEMSELVES?

I do kinda wanna see the butt of the gun coming at me in first person…

Like the beginning of F.E.A.R.

like always, the soviets did it first

Instant Boss Fight:

You mean those walls back there? Cause Gordon can blow up tanks easily, but can’t handle walls.

I hope the atmosphere is improved, even moreso than HL2.

For a war, most of Surface Tension was pretty damn quiet.

Especially once you cleared everyone out, then aside from the occasional gunfire every so often, there wasn’t much left, the atmosphere was boring and all that there was left to do was move on. HL2 did this better, but still felt that once you cleared an area, you were the last living thing within a kilometer.

Gordon fucking Freeman!

(although seriously, I can see where you’re coming from)

How about as an easter egg, we see a zombie with a crowbar.

I’d still want to see full on dismemberment in addition to just gibbing. It could work like those dismemberment mods in Gmod where the bone just shrinks down to 0, and I guess the bone that’s a parent to that would have a bloody stump object attached to it. I think borderlands and Duke Nukem Forever do it that way and it doesn’t look too bad.

I read somewhere that it’s been tried before and failed, or something.

I think that’s how Fallout does it too.
