D3D file can't be created

So I tried to change my resolution above than what it already was. Well, it crashed and am now unable to restart the game. I keep getting a “Failed to create D3D device” or something like that. Help?

Try adding the following launch options:
-w 1650 -h 1080
Replace the numbers with your desired width and height, set them to your monitor’s native resolution if you don’t know what to use.

Thanks, that helped!

i got the same error altho it came differently. i didnt change resolution, get a crash and couldnt get back in.
the game was running perfectly fine yesterday but im suddenly getting the error today despite not having made any changes to settings. since last time i played

i did change the resolution when i started the game up for the first time, but i had started it up several times since then and got no errors at all
i tried the solution posted here but it didnt do anything the error persists

Let me guess: you’re on a laptop with Core i5 or i7 CPU and possibly equipped with an additional “external” GPU from nVIDIA which could be auto-activated using Optimus technology. Am I right?

nope not at all a pc not a laptop and theres no external gpu

OK. Let me rephrase myself: do you use Intel GPU to play this game?
(hint post your hardware and software specs - CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, OS and so on hint)

I’d say he has Optimus and the Intel GPU is the default one used and he has to manually swap it over.

I was guessing the same but - as you could read above - he states that this is a PC and not a laptop and there’s no external gpu in there cough.
