Custom made LED mouse pad

I want a glowing mouse pad, but the ones I’ve seen online aren’t that cool and have bad reviews, so I’ve come up with a great idea on how to make a glowing mouse pad with a custom design:

Get a really thick piece of plexiglas and a thin piece of plexiglas (or another clear plastic that would make a better mouse pad surface, IDK if plexiglas will work). Cut them both to the shape and size you want. Take the thick piece and drill holes in the bottom for your LEDs. Set up the LEDs and wire them (I haven’t thought of the specifics to this step yet, probably they would use a USB port if that’s not too difficult). Find a design you like. Stencil it with black spray paint onto the bottom of the thin piece of plexiglas. glue the two pieces of plexiglas together. Place some plastic discs on the bottom of the mouse pad so it wont’ slide and the wires have room. Spray paint the sides of the mouse pad with black spray paint (or use some sort of black material).

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions on how to make this better? If I actually make this I’ll post it here.

EDIT: unsurprisingly, looks like it’s already been done: instructables. Maybe I’ll use this.

What use is an LED mousepad?

Looks cool, what more do I need to say?

Um, cool isn’t the word.

LEDS only look cool on futuristic science fiction technology.

hmm you could find a thin cloth and stretch it over the plexiglass and then glue it around the edges. That way the top stays opaque and you have an awesome glow coming from undernieth your mousepad

Wouldn’t that be as annoying and distracting as fuck?

how would it be annoying? it would be like having an optical mouse, and if an optical mouse pisses u off then i suggest you get some therapy cos ur crazy

Only to those with ADHD.

it looks really awesome.

this gives me an idea for a custom LCD mousepad

Ooh, ooh, I know, I know, make a touchscreen LCD mousepad! :jizz:

Fuck that, touchscreen LCD mouse. Flat screens are for pussies.

well that gives me an idea for a CRT mousepad, way to go.

is that supposed to be funny?
