CTF_Bunkers

Here’s a TF2 map I’m working on, my first, actually. No where near being close to being complete, I’m just posting my current progress so that I can get some constructive criticism on it. So, without further ado, here is is:

This is the capture zone. The basic idea is the other teams flag spawns in your base and you have to get it to the other teams base.

Hallway leading to the capture zone.

The area outside the spawn.

This is what you see through the above windows. I can’t model so the best I can do is make a brush artillery gun, with real firing action!

The interior of the bunker.

Interior of the spawn.

Stairs down to the caves. Fear my fail displacements.
And there you have it.

Looks pretty good, really like the stairs and the caves. In the first shot you should set the light models not to cast shadows, or lower the lights themselves a little.

As for the displacements, they’re awful hard to get right, mine rarely look very good.

If redid this into a css map, it would make a great zombie survival map.

Zombie survival map? In CSS? Sorry, I haven’t played that game much.

TF2 maps have the ‘look absolutely same’ syndrome. But there is pretty much no fix for that, unless you make, you know, custom textures.

Well that is true for all maps without different textures, regardless of game, although TF2 textures are a touch less versatile. And there are no grass textures. At all.

I have not seen a game where it’s worse than in TF2.

This map has absolutely nothing to set it apart from the other custom maps. Unless it’s very thought-out and fun to play.

Well all you can do is create a different game mode. Oh wait a second…
