I honestly think Microsoft should buy it actually.
I’m peripherally involved with a group making a Cryengine based game and all was well up to version 3.5.8. When the latest version came out it all went to hell and the team is basically dead in the water with no sound or animations.
I hope this money allows them to repair their engine.
Wouldn’t sounds and anims be the responsibility of your team, not whoever made the engine?
They worked before and now they don’t, and no one has found a way to get them working again. Inquiries have been made but not answered, and some of the members have been working with Cryengine for 4-5 years.
Sounds like sabotage to me.
Ayup. Their UK studio is gone and all the top people in their USA studio quit from what I hear.
Our little hobbyist group has thrown in the towel and are currently taking a hard look at Unity. There was and is no support from Crytek and we will continue moving forward.
You should probably use UE4 over Unity if the subscription isn’t an issue.
Geez. Didn’t something happen to Capcom recently, too?
Apparently Devolver Digital is interested in getting the Timesplitters IP.
