Create a new enemy or some other random concept art for Episode 3

Zombie stalkers? Have their lasers randomly firing, along with some sort of knife/sword extension to attack Gordon with as they close in on him. They would also be a close combat unit, and would close in to attack him.

These enemies would be engaged in dark areas of the ship, maybe with flickering lights.

More stalkers agreed. id quite like to shoot at one with a normal weapon, and I think ep3 would benefit from having virtually zero headcrabs or zombies.
And what are those big foor legged creatures you see on the way up to breens office? think they should turn up. Its valves style to show you somthing earlier that you end up fighting later.

Firing lasers would kill the headcrab, and they have no feet, little muscle, and their asses are basically sewn shut, so how the hell could they run or swing their knife?

They cut the beta stalker because it wasn’t fun, and it was a retarded concept.

I have to disagree with the status quo.
Stalkers are made by the combine from female insurrectionists. They are an inner-city phenomenon, fit for little more than simple, repetitive operating tasks. Stalkers have no relation to the Aperture Science Borealis, and I doubt they’d be useful enough for the Combine to take them along to the South Pole.

Whatever happened to the Borealis will have most likely caused most of its crew to die. The enemies left on the ship, I expect, will be robotic sentries of several types.

First, imagine the Borealis to be of a darkened, maze-like quality. Its power has worn out, or it has turned its power off to preserve energy. Much of the space inside is filled with containers and heavy machinery. The areas contain sensors that passively scan for life, and will activate the ship’s machinery in one way or another. If you are not a crew member, the machinery that will activate will be of the violent, lethal variety.

In this scenario, I expect the 3rd HL2 episode to have sneaking as its key gameplay mechanic.

1. Scout Robot
Behaves like the houndeye when it’s alone and approached. Runs to get help.
Lightly armed, maybe shoots from the shadows. Highly sensitive.
Looks like a miniature Hunter.

2. Sentry Robot
Heavier in appearance. Looks somewhat like a Star Wars battle droid, except with the white matte Aperture Science textures.
Inactive, activated when warned by a scout, or when room sensors detect life.

3. Stationary turret (Link)
We’ve seen these in Portal.

Combine enhanced synth possums ftw

Moar zenwildlife.

Wait that was already suggested?

Oh my fucking god.

Stop the presses.

ZOMBIE. STALKERS.

Sorry guys, but you’ve all been beat out. Zombie Stalkers is probably the best damn idea I’ve ever heard suggested for Episode 3.

But then again, that’s not much considering 99% of the ideas suggested for Episode 3 involve either GlaDOS, the Portal Gun, or the Gman coming out of the closet as Gordon’s gay grandfather

Swin flu carrier: It makes your molucules turn into pigs that grow full size and then makes you explode. and the only way to save yourself is to find a magic sparkly soup!
EDIT: Now maybe people will shut the fuck up about it. Doubt it.

I agree completely. Except for everything you said after this.

Except for the fact that the Stalker’s eye-lasers would kill them if they land on their heads.

Didn’t people complain that Zombies were too slow, weak and boring of an enemy and come up with a bunch of stupid ways to make them harder to fight? Why would making a zombie out of something slower, weaker and less abundant be more fun to fight? Or does it seem like a great idea simply because it make a tiny iota more sense then all of the other recycled garbage ideas going around?

An arctic carrier strider. Troops would repel from the storage thing underneath it and it would have two machine guns mounted at the front like a dropship. Explosion added for emphasis.

So like a synth except artic?

Half Life is fictictious, you’re not at liberty to say what can and can’t happen.

I didn’t say I wanted a fucking truckload of Stalker zombies. I thought it would be something novel for say, the dark hallways of the Borealis. They’re better than the generic white-shirt blue jeans affair that we’ve been getting since 2004. And what exactly makes you think Stalker zombies will be slow? Did you see the bastards run in the beta? They would be a great substitute to the fast zombie, which we have ALSO been seeing ad nausium since '04. I would love the Stalker zombie, as long as they don’t overuse it to no end like they did with the Zombine in Episode 1.

I like the idea of a troop carying strider, a bit like a AT-AT.
im thinking battle of hoth kinda of thing.
Although valve will proberly aviod that paralel, and from the look of it the combine are already there so not really a huge need to move people around as the activitys going to be centered abound the Borealis .

The Borealis does seem to be in a crevase in the concept art with lots of open spaces, maybe a creature that moves similar to a controller from Hl1.

That and we havent had any cloaking enemies sense hL1 and they have been an fps staple of many games for years.
so maybe the’ll turn up

That’s cool. But you are wrong.
The stalkers ARE female, Alyx refers to them as such in EP1
The Borealis WAS teleported to the SOUTH pole, but damn, I can’t find a source off the top of my head…

ugh… in wich part alyx said in ep1 that they were females?
as far as i know stalkers can be both male and female.

But half-life has consistency an some logic behind it that wouldn’t be disregarded simply for the sake of “because it sounds cool.”

If they made an enemy that behaved similarly to it, they’d make a new one that wouldn’t be related to or look like a stalker as we know it, because it would destroy the sympathy that the player is supposed to feel for them, and unlike you, the people at Valve actually care about good writing.

Stalkers are any resistance members that were captured by the combine, not just the females, and BOREALS means NORTH. North pole.

You know, I think you’re right. I youtubed the part of the game where I thought Alyx referred to them as female, and I didn’t hear any such thing. I then thought to compare their anatomy (bone structure) to that of females/males, but then I stumbled onto this.

Itaque, if anything, I’m wrong and you are right. Hmph.

Additionally, the Wiki search on “Borealis” turned up that Mossman found it in an “Arctic location”. I’ll just shut up now :zip:

Edit: ok, but just because the ship is called Borealis, doesn’t mean it has to be found in the North. :stuck_out_tongue:

These thingys! They have laz0rs and everything. Thanks Gom Jabbar.

Alright, for a serious suggestion, I’ve been thinking cremators would be primarily used for melting ice. Other then that, seeing Combine Elite-esque arctic soldiers would be pretty cool, a lot like the Germans from WWII.

You really can’t trust that wiki most of the time. In fact I finished editing out some of the crap in that article not long before you posted saying that. But yeah, she doesn’t say anything about gender.

Arctic also means North.

Maybe a zombine elite, zombel(the resistance zombie)and zombie protection. Even the Agrunt become your friend like how vort does.
