Crashes on Blast pit chapter (Huge Fan)

On the blast pit chapter where you have to switch on huge fan, after enabling the fan I climb back up the ladder and around 5 seconds after getting off the ladder the game hangs and immediately crashes. I have turned down graphics to the lowest settings with 640x480 resolution and it still crashes…
Hope this can be fixed as I cannot progress any further :’(

It is an acknowledged issue that will likely be fixed with an update, sooner or later.
The temporary solutions found by the community are:

1. destroy all the pallets and the wooden boxes in the area (especially the ones on the fan)
2. activate the fan, go up on the ladder and, withouth facing the fan at any time, step back on it: the airflow will take you up.

That should do the trick.
