Crash (Win 2008 R2 x64)

I get strange crashes whenever I look at certain places on some maps. It breaks the game quite heavily (it’s not possible to go past some critical places, like the test chamber or the blast pit).

The game works perfectly fine otherwise.

It seems that there’s some entity which crashes, I’ve got plenty of memory dumps collected. I’ve attached a few.

System is Windows 2008 R2, x64, latest video drivers, ATI HD3800 videocard.

I’ve attached 5 memory dumps, from various places where I crashed (don’t know where exactly, picked these randomly, actually got about 17 of them. It crashes in test chamber when looking up at the top base of anti-mass spectrometer.

clarification: The game crashes immediately after the fan starts to pick up speed

Confirmed. Game crashes about 3-4 secs after starting the big fan in chapter blast pit. Not only WS2008, W7x64/W7x64SP1 too. (Ok, i know… actulally the two OS is 99,9% same.)

I tried to run on single CPU core, trying WXP compatibility mode or running as administrator: the result is same. Everything else is fine.

My Computer: Intel Xeon E5-1620, 32G ram, Ati HD4850. W7x64SP1, all drivers & patches are the latest.

Err, just to clarify, my crash is not the same as the blast pit fan crash.

In my case it crashes in the first chapter (when walking past a laboratory after getting HEV suit), it crashes if I look up at the anti-mass spectrometer, it crashes when loading the next map (when unforeseen consequences chapter starts).

It also crashes right when entering the outter part of blast pit. I don’t even get to turn on any fans!

These crashes are not triggered by anything specific other than just looking at certain spot in the world.

Possibly workaround: i restarted the game from the autosave and now works fine.

Maybe it’s a physic problem. When i first was here, when i opened a box upside, i accidently pushed the secound box onto the big vent. I saw no box on vent, but maybe this was the problem.

I was able to get past this just now. Per Saxus’s suggestion, I made sure all boxes at the bottom level were destroyed. Also, after I climbed the ladder back up after activating the fan, I did not look at the fan (had to move sideways). Not sure if that had anything to do with it but I was able to get past it. Actually, a third thing I did was load an auto save file from further back.

ok In my case destroying all the crates helped.

Hi there, I had the same problem of systematic crash when powering up the turbine. Destroying all the crates and possibly not looking at the turbine does prevent the game from crashing. Thanks for your messages here.

On map c2a5 you get a crash but just there were you swim out LOOK BACK this fixed every issue in there for me.

Thanks for the tip. How do I find the titles of the maps ?

Edit : Nevermind, I just had to look at the save section in order to avoid a stupid question. Thanks again.
